Michelle Lujan Grisham \u2062of New Mexico unilaterally \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.state.nm.us\/2023\/09\/07\/governor-declares-gun-violence-a-public-health-emergency-after-murder-of-11-year-old-boy-on-his-way-home-from-baseball-game\/\">suspending<\/a> the Second\u2063 Amendment right to carry firearms? Well, the Constitution hasn&#8217;t come up much.<\/p>\n<h3>Now:<\/h3>\n<p>News outlets have \u2063highlighted Lujan Grisham&#8217;s claims that her executive \u2062order\u2014which banned\u2063 carry of \u200dfirearms in and around Albuquerque for 30 days\u2014was a necessary response to gun violence.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan\u200d Grisham (D) said the state is temporarily \u200bsuspending \u200bopen and concealed carry of \u2064firearms in Albuquerque and the surrounding\u200c county for 30 days, describing \u2062the unusual move \u200bas a necessary\u2064 response to gun violence there. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8ubzWpaWh9\">https:\/\/t.co\/8ubzWpaWh9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u2062 The Washington Post \u200b(@washingtonpost) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/washingtonpost\/status\/1700892913066971425?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 10, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There has also\u200b been plenty of coverage\u200c of\u2063 the\u200d backlash,\u200c including the Democratic state attorney \u2063general&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/new-mexico-governor-guns-albuquerque-lujan-grisham-3b23b6656f6555950c1a65b62d98a5d0\">refusal<\/a> \u2063 to enforce the ban.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">New Mexico Gov.
