They\u200c have blocked keywords related to COVID-19 vaccines and other\u200d &#8220;potentially sensitive&#8221; topics.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>According to The\u2064 Washington Post, Meta&#8217;s revamped\u2062 search engine initially displayed a blank \u2064screen\u2062 and redirected users to the CDC&#8217;s website when\u2063 they\u2063 searched \u200dfor terms like \u2062&#8221;coronavirus&#8221; and \u2064&#8221;COVID&#8221;.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe just began rolling out keyword\u200c search for Threads to \u2062additional countries last\u2063 week,\u201d a Meta spokesperson told Fox News Digital in \u2062a statement. \u200c\u201cThe search functionality temporarily doesn\u2019t provide\u2064 results for keywords that \u200cmay show\u200b potentially sensitive content. People will\u2063 be \u2062able to search \u200bfor keywords such as \u2018COVID\u2019 \u200cin future \u2062updates once we are confident\u200d in the quality of the results.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Meta\u200c has confirmed \u2063that this blocking of searches is a &#8220;temporary&#8221; measure.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Post reported that words like &#8220;sex,&#8221; &#8220;nude,&#8221; &#8220;gore,&#8221; &#8220;porn,&#8221; &#8220;coronavirus,&#8221; &#8220;vaccines,&#8221; and &#8220;vaccination&#8221; have also been blocked\u200c on \u200dThreads&#8217; search\u2064 engine.<\/p>\n<p>Public health professionals, including World Health Network \u200bOutreach Director\u200d Julia Doubleday, \u2063have criticized \u2062Meta&#8217;s decision to prohibit \u2064COVID-related \u2063searches.
