You \u200dguys reached out to \u2064me\u2064 to do a\u200d job, and now\u2064 you&#8217;re pulling the \u2064rug \u200cout from under me. I&#8217;m getting cease and desist letters. Now my\u2064 name&#8217;s being \u200dthrown through the mud \u200cin \u200dthe media.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cammack&#8217;s\u2063 journey began \u200bwhen\u2064 he received a\u2063 call on Aug. 22, 2020, from \u2062Michael\u200d Wynne, the attorney for real estate\u200b developer Nate \u2063Paul. Wynne recommended Cammack to Paxton for an undisclosed matter, leading to a conversation between Cammack and Paxton the following\u200c day.\u2064 Paxton expressed his\u200c desire to \u2062hire someone for a\u2062 &#8220;criminal investigation,&#8221; \u200cand they scheduled a \u2063meeting at Paxton&#8217;s government office \u2062in Austin.<\/p>\n<p>During\u200b the \u200bmeeting, Paxton explained that he \u2063was searching for an\u200b outside lawyer because his own staff refused to work \u200bon \u200bthe \u2063case. Cammack was \u2064among \u200bseveral people being interviewed for the position. Paxton sent \u2063Cammack a contract\u2064 in early September, \u200dsolidifying his belief that he \u200bhad secured the job. Cammack \u200cagreed to work for $300 per hour.<\/p>\n<p>However, it was only after receiving the contract \u2062that \u2062Cammack discovered Paul was under FBI investigation and had\u2063 filed a complaint against\u2063 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/roger-stone-exclusive-does-cnn-ever-report-the-truth-cpac-rap-video-mischaracterized-in-smear\/\" title=\"ROGER STONE EXCLUSIVE: Does CNN Ever Report the Truth? CPAC Rap Video Mischaracterized in Smear\">federal magistrate<\/a> who signed a search warrant for Paul&#8217;s property.<\/p>\n<h3>An Energetic Encounter<\/h3>\n<p>Cammack met with Paul at his office in Austin, where Paul passionately shared his side\u200c of the story and showed Cammack \u200cthe search warrant. Cammack found Paul&#8217;s\u200b claims convincing and relayed the \u200cinformation \u2062to Paxton during their meeting later that day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was fired up about the opportunity,&#8221; Cammack\u2064 said. &#8220;I \u200cwas excited to be working on a project with the attorney general&#8217;s office.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite\u200b his excitement, Cammack admitted feeling confused about why Paxton&#8217;s\u2062 senior aides were not handling the case. Paxton explained that he\u200d couldn&#8217;t get\u2062 his office staff to work \u2063on it. Cammack also expressed \u2063concerns \u2063about his existing workload, but Paxton assured him it \u200bwould be \u200dsimple.<\/p>\n<p>As the investigation progressed, Cammack reported developments to Paxton and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lawyer-claims-ken-paxton-hired-him-to-go-after-political-enemies-then-left-him-out-to-dry\/\" title=\"Lawyer alleges Paxton hired him to target foes, then abandoned him.\">proposed issuing grand jury subpoenas<\/a> to gather more information about the warrant. Paxton approved the move, and Cammack sent out nearly 40 subpoenas. However,\u2063 his\u2062 confidence \u200bwas shattered when two U.S. Marshal&#8217;s Office federal agents showed up at his Houston office to inquire about his work with Paxton.<\/p>\n<p>Confused and seeking\u2063 answers, Cammack returned to Austin to meet with Paul, Wynne, and Paxton.
