min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>According to\u2064 court documents filed on Tuesday, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr.,\u200b and Justin Smith,\u2063 were all indicted\u200d after being charged with one\u2062 count each of \u2064excessive force\u2064 and deliberate indifference, as well as\u2064 two charges of witness tampering.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" data-placeholder-image=\"https:\/\/c3.oann.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/complianz-gdpr\/assets\/images\/placeholders\/twitter-minimal.jpg\" class=\"cmplz-placeholder-element twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: US \u200dAttorney General Merrick Garland has just announced that a Federal Grand\u2062 Jury has indicted five Memphis police officers who\u2064 were involved in the the Tyre Nichols killing.<\/p>\n<p>The officers are: Tadarrius Bean,\u00a0Demetrius Haley, \u2063Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr. and\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gJ51osU0XD\">pic.twitter.com\/gJ51osU0XD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ed Krassenstein (@EdKrassen) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EdKrassen\/status\/1701679533642969098?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 12, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script type=\"text\/plain\" data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" async data-cmplz-src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The former officers are also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/5-former-officers-indicted-for-the-death-of-tyre-nichols\/\" title=\"5 ex-officers charged in Tyre Nichols' death.\">facing criminal court charges<\/a> in Shelby County, Tennessee, for\u200c second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts \u200bof aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct, and \u2064official oppression. <\/p>\n<p>All five men <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/da-dismisses-more-than-30-cases-involving-former-officers-charged-in-death-of-tyre-nichols\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pleaded not guilty<\/a> to\u2062 these charges during \u2064their initial court hearing on February 17<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Nichols had\u2064 died a few days later after being pulled over for a traffic violation, where \u200dhe was beaten\u2062 by the former Memphis cops on January 7<sup>th<\/sup>. <\/p>\n<p>The extent of the \u200cbeating was made public when body\u2063 camera videos and surveillance \u2064footage from Nichols\u2019 arrest were\u200c made public on January 27<sup>th<\/sup>. <\/p>\n<p>According to the county prosecutor at the\u2063 time, it contradicted what the\u2064 officers claimed had\u200b occurred in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blm-activists-protest-police-shooting-leave-after-learning-man-was-white-report\/\" title=\"BLM Activists Protest Police Shooting, Leave After Learning Man Was White: Report\">initial police report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nichols\u2019\u2062 immediate family has also filed a lawsuit against the city of\u200b Memphis, the Memphis \u2064police department, and\u2063 the 5 former officers.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Crump and Antonio Romanucci, attorneys representing Nichols\u2019 family, gave a statement after the hearing. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe news today \u200bfrom the United States Justice Department \u200dthat there will be criminal accountability on the federal level \u200cfor Tyre\u2019s death gives \u2063his family hope as they continue\u200b to grieve his loss and inspire\u2062 change in his honor,\u201d Crump and \u2064Romanucci said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The federal\u200c charges come after the Department\u200d of Justice (DOJ) launched an investigation into the\u200c City\u200b of Memphis and its\u2063 police \u200cdepartment for its\u2063 use of force, searches, arrests, and alleged \u201cdiscriminatory policing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
