Michelle Lujan Grisham&#8217;s\u2062 (D-NM) \u2062recent 30-day ban on concealed and open carry gun permits in two\u2062 counties\u2062 surrounding \u200bAlbuquerque, New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>The order\u200d was issued by Grisham following her declaration\u2062 of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chris-christie-slams-new-mexico-governors-gun-ban-clearly-and-blatantly-unconstitutional\/\" title=\"Chris Christie criticizes New Mexico governor's gun ban as \"clearly and blatantly unconstitutional.\"\">public health emergency \u2064due<\/a> to gun\u200d violence. However, the \u200bdecision\u200d has faced criticism from individuals across the\u200d political spectrum. Christie appeared on Fox News&#8217;s America&#8217;s Newsroom on Tuesday, where he\u2062 referred to the ban as a &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/attorney-gen-merrick-garland-announces-doj-will-fight-voting-laws\/\" title=\"Attorney Gen. Merrick Garland announces DOJ will fight voting laws\">public relations ploy<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;This is so clearly and\u2063 blatantly unconstitutional. I think it will be\u2063 knocked down. This is nothing more than \u2062a \u2062public relations ploy by a governor \u200bwho is having trouble in her own state, understands how politically unpopular her border policies are, how\u200c politically unpopular violent \u2064crime that\u2019s going on in New Mexico\u2062 and across the country is. And she is attempting to cater to the\u2064 grandstand. It\u200b is not going to work,&#8221; Christie said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Christie further\u200d expressed his belief that the \u2064federal courts will intervene and prevent the\u200d implementation of the ban. He highlighted the pushback from individuals within Grisham&#8217;s own\u200c party in New \u200bMexico, emphasizing that she does not\u200d have the authority \u2063to enforce such \u200drestrictions.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I was\u200c a governor,\u200d and I am for governors having real authority to be \u200bable to make sure \u2063the quality of life in their state is excellent,\u2064 the people are safe, and law and order is \u2062enforced, but not by violating the Constitution. \u200cThis is clearly violating the Constitution, and she needs to be reprimanded for it,&#8221; he \u2062continued.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When asked about addressing gun violence \u200dand crime, Christie emphasized the importance\u2064 of enforcing\u2064 existing laws. He stated that if he were elected president, he would direct U.S. \u2062attorneys to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fraternal-order-of-police-vp-if-we-want-to-decrease-crime-we-need-to-prosecute-violent-crime-including-gun-crime\/\" title=\"Fraternal Order of Police VP: If We Want to Decrease Crime, We Need to Prosecute Violent Crime, Including Gun Crime\">prosecute violent crime<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;As president, what I would do is order my attorney general in\u2064 all of the cities where there is\u2063 runaway violent crime \u2014 we know which \u2064ones they \u2062are, San Francisco, Los\u200b Angeles, \u200dChicago, Philadelphia, New York are\u200b just some of them \u2014 to make the U.S. attorneys in those cities take over the enforcement of violent \u2062crime \u200bif the prosecutors won\u2019t,&#8221; Christie said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And we have plenty \u200dof room in federal prison for people\u200c committing violent acts and ruining the quality of life in America\u2019s great cities. America can\u2019t be a\u200c great\u200d country if we don\u2019t have \u200bgreat cities. As president, \u200bwhat I will do is make\u200d sure we enforce the law at the federal level\u2063 if there are Soros-backed prosecutors \u2063who won\u2019t do\u2064 it in cities across this country,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The ban in New Mexico imposes fines of up to \u200c$5,000 \u2063for those\u2064 who \u2063do not\u2064 comply with the new restrictions. However, individuals with carry permits are\u200b still allowed to transport \u2062their firearms \u200dto \u200dcertain locations, such as gun\u200d ranges or stores, as long\u2062 as the weapons \u2064have mechanisms preventing \u2063discharge.<\/p>\n<p>Officials in the Albuquerque area have voiced their opposition to\u200b the governor&#8217;s executive action, stating that they will not enforce it and deeming it unconstitutional.
