The series became\u200d a \u2062smash, garnering attention from celebrities and others online contending Avery is innocent, though \u201cMAM\u201d also generated some backlash for revictimizing the Halbachs and peddling conspiracies.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Theme of Convicting a Murderer is to trash Avery based largely on inadmissible rumors &#038; gossip. I \u2064spent 500 hours in a courtroom over 15 months.\u200c I lived the case. I had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-non-fungible-tokens-and-blockchain-are-changing-the-art-and-music-worlds\/\" title=\"How Non-Fungible Tokens And Blockchain Are Changing The Art And Music Worlds\">front-row seat<\/a>.\u200c I don\u2019t need\u200c a DailyWire docuseries to help me\u2062 with\u200b that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The attorney\u2062 added that \u201cMAM\u201d left out \u200d\u201crumors and gossip,\u201d which he\u2019s not interested in. \u201cWhat do I care\u200d what rumors are\u2063 about some person 20 years ago in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin?\u201d Strang said. \u201cThese people didn\u2019t become President of the United States or an ambassador\u200d to a foreign country. I really don\u2019t care about rumors regarding private citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/show\/convicting-a-murderer#\"><b>WATCH: \u2018Convicting A Murderer\u2019<\/b><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Owens has argued that \u201cMAM\u201d strategically omits information\u2062 about Avery to its audience \u200cto paint a narrative that doesn\u2019t jibe with reality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe facts\u2063 we gathered in \u2018Convicting a Murderer\u2019 paint\u200b a completely different \u2014 and, frankly, frightening \u2014 picture of Steven Avery than what people saw\u200c in \u2018Making a Murderer,&#8217;\u201d Owens said, <a href=\"https:\/\/wislawjournal.com\/2023\/09\/08\/convicting-a-murderer-rebuttal-to-making-a-murderer-filled-with-rumors-speculation-and-corner-bar-gossip\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">according<\/span><\/a>  \u200c to the Wisconsin\u2064 Law Journal. \u201cSteven Avery is still actively appealing and \u2064is \u200csupported by a cult-like movement created by \u2018Making a Murderer.\u2019 We saw a similar situation with Adnan Syed\u2062 from \u2018Serial\u2019 who was \u200dfreed, arguably as a result of the popularity of the series. If Steven Avery were to be freed because of \u2018Making a Murderer,\u2019 I would have huge concerns \u2064about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Director of \u201cCAM,\u201d Shawn Rech, similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/wislawjournal.com\/2023\/09\/06\/convicting-a-murderer-rebuttal-to-making-a-murderer-unveils-facts-not-told-by-netflix-series\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">told<\/span><\/a>  the Wisconsin Law Journal that \u2064the \u201cMAM\u201d filmmakers\u2019 editing choices were \u201creckless\u201d and \u201cdeliberate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Netflix was questioned about certain edits\u200b to the Making a Murderer docuseries, the filmmakers alluded to brevity, and said \u2062you can\u2019t leave everything in,\u201d Rech said. \u201cWhat we find out is that every single\u2064 choice they\u200c made appeared to reduce \u2064the knowledge of Steven Avery\u2019s\u2062 history and that doesn\u2019t happen organically, in my opinion,\u2064 is not\u2062 only reckless but deliberate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-trump-writes-into-wall-street-journal-on-stolen-election-points-out-the-obvious\/\" title=\"President Trump Writes into Wall Street Journal on Stolen Election \u2014 Points Out the Obvious\">past 3 years<\/a>, this project has been completely blackballed by Hollywood,\u201d Rech continued. \u201cMy agents were \u2064afraid to sell it.
