Despite being \u200cslandered as \u201cdomestic terrorists,\u201d racists, and \u201cextremists,\u201d parents are \u2064not backing down. But this fight itself reveals the ugliness of what\u2019s\u2063 going on.<\/p>\n<p>At Tuesday\u2019s Senate hearing on \u201cbanned books,\u201d Sen. John Kennedy used some of his time to read to the witnesses directly from some of the books that parents are concerned about. \u200cAs he read the passages out loud, including the graphic descriptions of gay oral and \u2064anal sex,\u200b the awkwardness was palpable, leading one of the leftist witnesses, Illinois Secretary\u2063 of State Alexi Giannoulias, there to promote these books being allowed to remain in children\u2019s\u2064 spaces to say, \u201cthe words\u200b you spoke are disturbing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Giannoulias drafted the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-clarifies-biden-stance-on-boycotts-in-ga\/\" title=\"Psaki clarifies Biden stance on boycotts in Ga.\">recently passed law<\/a> in Illinois banning book bans. The first-in-nation law requires\u200d the \u200dstate \u200badopt the American Library Association \u201cbill of rights\u201d \u2062opposing \u201cattempts to ban, remove, or otherwise restrict access to books or other materials.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Sen. Kennedy reads \u200dpassages from pornographic books Genderqueer and All\u200b Boys\u2064 are Blue.<\/p>\n<p>The Illinois Sec. of State Alexi \u200dGiannoulias responds\u2062 by saying &#8220;those words are disturbing coming from your mouth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>His state&#8217;s new law stops parents from being able to remove it from\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eDehdhctQL\">pic.twitter.com\/eDehdhctQL<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>      \u2064    \u2014 Greg Price (@greg_price11)\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greg_price11\/status\/1701628434894446999?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 12, 2023<\/a>\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>But that statement \u200dreveals the shocking dishonesty \u200bof the left. They admit that these\u200c books\u2064 are inappropriate and \u200duncomfortable when read in public, but still insist children should have access to them.<\/p>\n<h3>Protecting Children\u200d or Hiding the \u2063Truth?<\/h3>\n<p>Another recent episode highlights this \u200bphenomenon even more starkly.<\/p>\n<p>The American \u2062Accountability Foundation, a \u2063non-profit devoted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/baltimore-states-attorney-asks-bidens-fcc-to-stop-fox-news-affiliates-racist-reporting-on-marilyn-mosby\/\" title=\"Baltimore State\u2019s Attorney Asks Biden\u2019s FCC To Stop Fox News Affiliate\u2019s \u2018Racist\u2019 Reporting On Marilyn Mosby\">holding leaders accountable<\/a>, posted some images\u200b of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/leftist-witness-in-senate-hearing-on-book-bans-admits-sex-scenes-are-disturbing-but-children-should-still-have-access\/\" title=\"Leftist witness in Senate hearing acknowledges disturbing nature of sex scenes but supports children's access.\">extremely graphic sexual content\u200c found<\/a>\u2064 in public libraries on X, formerly known as Twitter. There was nothing subtle about these books. They contained explicit images of male\u200b and female genitalia. \u200dBut as <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/09\/12\/twitter-throttles-account-exposing-the-obscene-books-libraries-give-kids\/\">The Federalist reported<\/a>, AAF\u2019s account was \u2064immediately punished by X. It has been shadowbanned. Now, if you search for \u201cAmerican Accountability Foundation\u201d on X you will not find\u2064 it \u200csuggested, and\u2062 all posts containing images, videos,\u200c or even a link with a graphic, are hidden behind a \u201csensitive\u2063 content\u201d \u2064warning.<\/p>\n<p>While in a sane\u2064 world it might be expected that such graphic imagery would be censored, in this situation it really is astounding. Our librarians and lawmakers claim these images are\u2062 perfectly safe\u2063 for kids in schools, but \u200cthen they are censored on \u200bsocial media. We can\u2019t help asking, which one is it? Are these books perfectly safe, even for \u2064children, or are they too explicit for the public square?<\/p>\n<p>What is especially \u200castounding\u200b is that in\u200b this context, children are less \u2063protected from\u200b inappropriate\u2063 sexual\u2062 imagery than adults. It\u2019s completely upside down. We are living in a world where Twitter\u200b is a safer place \u2064for children than the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>It is also ironic that this comes as the left claims they are\u2064 fighting \u201cbanned books.\u201d\u200c They don\u2019t\u2063 seem to have a problem with these books being\u2063 \u201cbanned\u201d from social media. Their \u201coutrage\u201d is strangely limited to when they are removed from\u2062 kids\u2019 public libraries and classrooms.<\/p>\n<h3>The Disregard for \u200bParents<\/h3>\n<p>Giannoulias made \u200banother statement at Tuesday\u2019s hearing that reveals the dark truth about the \u200cleft. When challenged \u2063to explain his true agenda, Giannoulias said \u201cWe are \u2064advocating for random parents not to have \u2062the ability, under the guise of keeping kids safe, to try and challenge the worldview of every single manner on these issues.\u201d We would ask, what exactly are \u201crandom parents?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is \u2062no such thing\u2062 as \u201crandom parents.\u201d Parents take on the most difficult \u2014\u200d though rewarding \u2014 task imaginable, \u2063raising the next\u200d generation of Americans.\u200c Parents give all of themselves to their children. They know what\u2019s best for their kids and should never be belittled or ignored.<\/p>\n<p>With this\u200c slur, reminiscent of Hillary Clinton\u2019s famous \u201cdeplorables,\u201d Giannoulias said more than perhaps he imagines: To\u200c them, \u201crandom parents\u201d means not deserving of respect, dignity, or to be heard.<\/p>\n<p>Giannoulias let\u2063 slip his contempt for normal \u2062American parents who want to protect\u2063 their children.\u200b He revealed his true feelings\u2064 and the feelings\u2064 of the rest of\u200d the elite establishment he\u200b works for: We are just\u2064 \u201crandom parents.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Tom Jones is \u200bpresident of the American Accountability Foundation.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parents nationwide are alarmed by their children&#8217;s exposure to objectionable content in schools and libraries.
