It\u2019s something the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/two-laughingstock-nba-franchises-just-put-historic-show-mjs-bulls-birds-celtics-never\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clippers<\/a> \u200dhave deployed judiciously given the checkered\u2064 injury history of \u2064George and (especially) Leonard.<\/p>\n<p>But while\u200d load management may be\u200b best\u2062 for the player and \u2062the team, it\u2019s not nearly as good for the fan paying his \u200cor her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hate-being-spewed-in-the-name-of-patriotism-wapo-opinion-attacks-anthem-before-games-2\/\" title=\"\u2018Hate Being Spewed In The Name Of Patriotism\u2019: WaPo Opinion Attacks Anthem Before Games\">hard-earned money<\/a> to attend an\u200c NBA game\u2063 \u2014 only to\u200c see a completely healthy star player in \u2063street clothes on the team bench.<\/p>\n<p>(To be\u2063 clear,\u200b it\u2019s not just the Clippers who do this.\u200b The Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee\u200d Bucks and \u2062Dallas\u2064 Mavericks have rested superstars\u2062 Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Luka Doncic, respectively, for load management \u2063purposes last year.)<\/p>\n<p>On\u200b a separate but possible related note: As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/nba-ratings-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OutKick<\/a> has covered numerous times on its site, NBA ratings have stagnated, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nba-ratings-collapse-continues-closing-game-gets-trounced-60-minutes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at best<\/a>. At worst, the \u2064league is\u200c facing \u2064genuine popularity concerns\u2026 and load management is absolutely a part of the problem.<\/p>\n<p>The league, perhaps aware of its\u200c ratings and the public backlash to load management (a common refrain among <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nba-legend-pioneer-dr-j-gives-top-10-nba-players-ever-lebron-fans-will-hate-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBA fans\u200d of a certain age<\/a> is \u2063that Michael Jordan never \u200cneeded load management,\u200c and \u2064his travel\u2063 accommodations were \u2063not nearly as luxurious \u200das what current players \u200benjoy), is now on the\u2064 cusp of levying a hefty financial punishment \u200dfor load management.<\/p>\n<h3>Stricter Guidelines and Fines<\/h3>\n<p>ESPN\u2019s NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski reported yesterday, originally, that the \u200bleague \u200cwas considering\u2062 \u201cstricter guidelines on resting players for national\u200d television games and \u2063multiple stars together in the same games.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">ESPN \u200cSources: The NBA\u2019s Competition Committee has recommended stricter guidelines on resting players for national television games \u200cand multiple stars together \u2062in the same\u200b games. \u2062The league\u2019s alleviating matters ever-so-slightly for NBA\u200c owners, it appears the league will only \u2064be applying\u200b these rules for \u201cstar\u201d players.<\/p>\n<p>According to NBA reporter Shams this \u200cmove doesn\u2019t actually \u200daddress any of the health concerns that players have.<\/p>\n<p>Forbes Sports\u2019 \u200bNBA \u2064writer Shane Young echoed that dissatisfaction on\u200d
