margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1325643669\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5616cc12404a52866fb7ff2d552dd0aa fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5616cc12404a52866fb7ff2d552dd0aa\"><\/div>\n<p>The CVUSD board voted on Monday to retain \u2063the \u200bLiberty Justice Center, a nonprofit, public-interest litigation center, to \u200bdefend the district against California Democrat Attorney General Rob Bonta who recently sued them over a popular parental\u2063 notification policy.<\/p>\n<p>The policy in\u2063 question requires school staff to notify parents if their child shows symptoms\u2062 of gender \u200bdysphoria including switching to the\u200d pronouns,\u2064 bathrooms, or sports \u2064teams of the opposite \u200csex.\u200c The rule reinforces the idea that parents, not\u2063 the state or school districts, have the final say over their children\u2019s well-being until those kids turn 18 years old.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state can\u2019t intimidate parents who\u2063 have spoken loud and clear\u2014their parental rights will not be taken away, and we won\u2019t be \u200dintimated into giving them up,\u201d president \u200dof the CVUSD Board Sonja Shaw said in\u200c a statement. \u201cWe have the law on our side and look forward to our day in court \u2064as parents will \u2063be\u200d watching \u2064coast to \u2062coast across the\u200c nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LJC says Bonta\u2019s latest legal attack\u2064 on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/school-district-gears-up-to-fight-california-ag-trying-to-make-them-secretly-trans-kids\/\" title=\"School District prepares to oppose California AG's attempt to conceal transgender students\">school district threatens local elected officials\u2019 autonomy<\/a>\u200b and parents\u2019 rights, which is why its lawyers, including\u200b LJC Senior Counsel Emily Rae, \u200c\u201clook forward to defending\u200d the propriety of \u2063this policy in court.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9cb81d416f3c99eb50e4f8f65e3dcad0 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9cb81d416f3c99eb50e4f8f65e3dcad0\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cParents \u2062have a constitutionally protected right to direct the \u2063upbringing \u200dof their children. That exists above and beyond policies like this Chino Valley policy but the Chino Valley\u2064 policy was enacted to just ensure that\u200b there are no secrets kept between the school district and the \u200bparents when\u2062 it comes \u2063to critical information\u2062 about their children\u2019s physical, emotional,\u200c and mental well-being,\u201d Rae told \u2064The\u200b Federalist.<\/p>\n<p>CVUSD\u2019s journey to codifying the pro-parents \u200drule was not an easy one. \u2062Plenty of politicians and administrators including\u2063 California Superintendent of Public\u200d Instruction Tony Thurmond publicly opposed the \u200cdistrict\u2019s attempts \u200cto recognize parents\u2019 rights to information about their children.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Thurmond\u2019s attempts \u2062to hamstring the board\u2019s \u2063plans, the policy \u2062successfully passed with a\u200c 4 to 1 vote in July.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"smkfWGeZg3MzprlLCvyVaNS8nYIbXABKJwc4Tu6EHoDiq\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">With 83 speakers for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChinoValleyUSD?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ChinoValleyUSD<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-parents-launch-ballot-initiatives-opposing-gender-ideology\/\" title=\"California parents launch ballot initiatives against gender ideology.\">parental\u2062 notification policy<\/a>, each speaker had one minute. State SPI <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TonyThurmond?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TonyThurmond<\/a> was the first speaker and was cut off after\u200c the one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/apple-limits-airdrop-feature-after-ccp-complains-it-circumvents-censorship\/\" title=\"Apple Limits Airdrop Feature After CCP Complains It Circumvents Censorship\">minute time limit<\/a>. Afterwards this ensured. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OnAPhy8D37\">pic.twitter.com\/OnAPhy8D37<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jonathan Zachreson (@JZachreson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JZachreson\/status\/1682220111586000898?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 21, 2023<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Mere hours after CVUSD adopted the rule, Bonta penned a letter to the district warning that the new \u2064policy contradicted \u200bthe California Department of Education\u2019s guidance on gender dysphoric children. \u200cBecause CVUSD ignored the DOE\u2019s recommendation to hide a child\u2019s \u2064social transition from his or her parents, Bonta threatened to \u201ctake\u200d action as appropriate to vigorously \u200cprotect students\u2019 civil rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-93530693264d4f57149d64693079c51f fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-93530693264d4f57149d64693079c51f\"><\/div>\n<p>After a short investigation into CVUSD, Bonta announced on Aug.\u2062 28 that he would sue the district for supposedly\u2063 violating LGBT students\u2019 civil\u2064 rights and causing them \u201cemotional, physical, and psychological \u200bharm.\u201d His narrative that CVUSD was orchestrating the \u201cforced outing\u201d of LGBT students was quickly picked up by national Democrats and the corporate\u2064 media.<\/p>\n<p>Rae told The Federalist the state\u2019s attempt to \u201cenforce their will on this school board is inappropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur position is that the attorney general\u2062 does not have any legal authority to bring this case, that the school district properly enacted this policy,\u201d Rae explained.<\/p>\n<p>Bonta\u2019s request for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-georgia-update-judge-issues-restraining-order-for-10-days-preventing-defendants-from-destroying-or-erasing-dominion-voting-machines\/\" title=\"BREAKING GEORGIA UPDATE: Judge Issues Restraining Order for 10 Days Preventing Defendants from Destroying or Erasing Dominion Voting Machines\">temporary restraining order<\/a> against the policy was granted by a San Bernardino judge on Sept. 6.<\/p>\n<p>The AG celebrated \u200dthe judge\u2019s decision as a \u201csignificant step\u200b towards ensuring the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of transgender and gender-nonconforming students\u201d but\u200c CVUSD and LJC say the fight isn\u2019t over yet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchools should not be keeping secrets from parents. That\u2019s at the \u200cheart of the policy and that\u2019s\u200d what this fight is about for us. Parents have a right to know what\u2019s going on with their children and their schools \u2064and so we\u2019re gonna fight to make\u200d sure that \u2062they continue \u2063to keep those rights,\u201d Rae said.<\/p>\n<p>The next hearing \u2064for CVUSD\u2019s\u200c case is on Oct. 13 where\u200c LJC plans to argue \u200bthat the temporary injunction \u201cis not appropriate in this\u200c case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several other\u2063 California school districts have either \u200cpassed or plan to enact similar parental \u2064notification policies like the one enacted by the CVUSD board. These districts\u2019 attempts to protect parents\u2019 rights also face scrutiny from Bonta, who\u2064 is threatening even more lawsuits.<\/p>\n<p>LJC attorneys, however, said they are \u200dprepared \u2062to \u200c\u201cdefend educational freedom and parents\u2019 rights\u201d anywhere, not just at CVUSD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf\u200b other schools are\u2064 facing these kinds of\u200c threats, we want to hear from them. We want to talk to them.
