Some Republican lawmakers have even threatened\u200b to remove McCarthy as \u200bHouse leader if\u200b he does not pursue impeachment\u2064 against Biden.<\/p>\n<p>President Biden, who defeated Trump in \u200dthe 2020\u2062 election, is currently running for\u2063 reelection next year.<\/p>\n<h3>Gathering Evidence of Possible Financial Misconduct<\/h3>\n<p>McCarthy stated that lawmakers \u200bfrom\u200c various \u200dcommittees will begin collecting\u200c evidence related to potential financial\u2063 misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>The White House has dismissed the \u2064need for an investigation, and President Biden has ridiculed Republicans for considering impeachment.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats argue\u2063 that Republican calls for impeachment are merely\u200c an attempt to divert\u2062 attention\u200c from Trump&#8217;s legal troubles. Even if the Republican-controlled House votes in\u2062 favor of impeachment, which is\u2064 uncertain given their narrow 222-212 vote margin, it would almost certainly fail in the Democratic-controlled Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Former President \u2063Trump remains the\u200c only U.S. president to have been impeached twice. Maybe they&#8217;ll decide to impeach me because it&#8217;s coming \u2064down. I don&#8217;t know.
