It\u2019s the instrument that allows me to express myself creatively,\u201d he said. \u201cBut it\u2019s also where I go for solace. If I\u2019m\u200c feeling \u2026 \u2018whatever.\u2019 So it\u2019s a very crucial thing to me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He continued,\u200c \u201cYou know, something happens to you when you have some sort of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/disability\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">disability<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  that changes \u200byour awareness or changes how you interact with life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Simon became \u2063famous as one half \u2062of the folk-rock duo Simon &#038; Garfunkel and is known\u2064 for classic songs such as \u201cMrs. Robinson\u201d and \u201cThe Sound of Silence.\u201d He\u2019s still recording music and released his 15th solo album, Seven Psalms, in May 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Challenges in Performing Live<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Performing these new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/6-screen-free-ways-to-make-lasting-summer-memories-with-children-and-loved-ones\/\" title=\"6 Screen-Free Ways To Make Lasting Summer Memories With Children And Loved Ones\">songs live<\/a> has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/paul-simon-on-hearing-loss-i-havent-accepted-it-entirely\/\" title=\"Paul Simon: Hearing Loss Still Unaccepted\">proved challenging due<\/a> to his\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/it-was-real-friend-and-former-employee-reveals-rush-limbaughs-journey-to-faith\/\" title=\"\u2018It Was Real\u2019: Friend And Former Employee Reveals Rush Limbaugh\u2019s Journey To Faith\">hearing loss<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cUsually, when I finished an album I\u200b went out and toured with it, and then\u200c I have the opportunity to really investigate the piece,\u201d Simon said, per THR. \u201cAnd then it evolves to another standard, and goes further.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added, \u2062\u201cAlthough a week from now I\u2019m going\u200b to try and work with two guitarists who will play the parts that I played on the record, and see if I can sing the piece. I\u2019m not sure how I can \u200dintegrate my voice with the guitars.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Simon said he didn\u2019t know what the future would look like for him artistically. \u201cI wrote a new song called \u2018When I Learned to Play Guitar,\u2019 but I don\u2019t know if I\u2019ll ever do anything with it,\u201d Simon told the audience in Toronto.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Simon had previously told London\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com\/?id=38395X987171&#038;xs=1&#038;xcust=646d193fe4b0bfd644858a23&#038;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thetimes.co.uk%2Farticle%2Fpaul-simon-losing-my-hearing-and-why-im-writing-songs-again-3c65mms7n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Times<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  that he hoped\u200c his hearing loss was \u2063temporary. \u201cQuite \u2062suddenly I lost most of the hearing in my left ear, and nobody\u2064 has an explanation\u200b for it,\u201d he told the outlet in\u200c May. \u201cSo everything became more difficult.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMy reaction to that was \u200dfrustration and annoyance; not quite anger yet, because I thought it would pass, it would repair itself,\u201d\u2064 the musician added.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Musician Paul Simon, 81, is gradually accepting his hearing loss.
