The White House has declared that \u200bif presented with the House version of the bill, Biden will veto it. This announcement comes as the administration \u2064criticizes certain Republican provisions in \u200bthe bill \u200dthat go against their policies.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200cWhite House released a statement on \u2064September 11 expressing its strong opposition to H.R. 4365, the House version of the \u2062Department of \u2063Defense\u2064 Appropriations Act (NDAA)\u2064 for the fiscal\u2062 year ending in 2024. The House \u2062passed its $886 billion defense bill in July, which aligned \u200cwith the Biden administration&#8217;s funding request. However, the \u200dbill included several\u2062 Republican amendments related to diversity, equity, inclusion initiatives (DEI),\u2062 abortion,\u2064 and transgender policies. These cuts \u200cwould have severe consequences for climate change \u2063and\u2063 clean energy programs, essential nutrition\u2062 services, law enforcement, consumer safety, education, and\u200b healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>The White House warns that H.R. 4365 would repeal provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act,\u2063 causing \u2062unacceptable harm to clean energy and energy efficiency initiatives.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">In July, the Republican-controlled \u2062House defense\u200b bill repealed the\u2064 Department of Defense&#8217;s abortion travel policy, which provided reimbursement for service members traveling to obtain an abortion in another state.<\/div>\n<p>H.R. 4365 also prohibits DOD \u200cprograms from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-threatens-veto-of-republican-house-defense-bill\/\" title=\"Biden to Veto GOP House Defense Bill\">offering sex reassignment surgeries<\/a> and gender\u200d hormone treatments for transgender individuals. It blocks the defense department from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/arkansas-passes-save-adolescents-from-experimentation-act-to-ban-trans-surgery-puberty-blockers-for-minors\/\" title=\"Arkansas Passes \u2018Save Adolescents From Experimentation Act\u2019 To Ban Trans Surgery, Puberty Blockers For Minors\">providing gender transition procedures<\/a> through a program designed for special-needs family members.<\/p>\n<p>The bill includes measures to\u200c counter DEI programs at \u2062the Pentagon, \u200dsuch as a policy that prevents \u2062the DOD&#8217;s\u2063 educational\u2062 arm from purchasing books promoting &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/johnny-the-walrus-wins-float-contest-judge-flips-out\/\" title=\"Johnny the Walrus wins float contest, judge goes crazy.\">radical\u200d gender ideology<\/a>&#8221; or containing pornographic content.\u2063 It also prohibits schools under the Defense Department from teaching that the United States or its\u2062 founding is racist.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">&#8220;We \u200bare continuing to block the Biden Administration&#8217;s &#8216;woke&#8217; agenda,&#8221; said Rep. Now, members of both chambers\u200d will need to negotiate a compromise on the NDAA \u2062to create a bill that \u2064can pass in both houses. Ultimately, it will be up to\u2063 President Biden to sign\u200d it into law.<\/p>\n<p>This clash between the House\u2064 and Senate \u2062bills is \u200ba departure from historical norms. The NDAA has typically been passed every year \u200dwith strong bipartisan support since 1961.\u200d However, this year, Republican pushback against the Biden administration&#8217;s social justice agenda has created \u2062this divide.<\/p>\n<p>The House defense bill passed by a narrow margin of \u200c219\u2013210, while the Senate version\u2063 passed with a vote of 86\u201311.
