Once inside, he physically assaulted her.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/florida-man-who-fatally-shot-sisters-ex-boyfriend-during-alleged-home-invasion-will-not-face-charges-police\/\" title=\"Florida man cleared of charges after shooting sister's ex-boyfriend in alleged home invasion.\">female victim managed<\/a>\u200d to send a\u2063 distress message \u200cto her \u2064family, prompting her 23-year-old brother and \u200dothers to \u2063rush to \u200bher aid.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    &#8220;During the argument, the intruder \u2063pulled out \u200da gun\u200c and aimed \u2064it at the female&#8217;s brother.\u2062 In response, her\u200d brother fired two shots, resulting in the intruder&#8217;s death,&#8221; \u2062stated \u2062the press release.<br \/>\n   \u2063<\/p>\n<h2>Investigation Ongoing<\/h2>\n<p>    \u200d    &#8220;At this point, no \u2063charges will be filed, but deputies continue to \u200dinvestigate,&#8221; they added.\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<p>The\u200d identities of those involved in\u2064 the incident have not been disclosed by the police.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    Speaking\u200d to ABC affiliate <a href=\"https:\/\/weartv.com\/news\/local\/escambia-county-sheriff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WEAR-TV<\/a> on September 7th, Escambia County \u2064Sheriff Chip Simmons emphasized, &#8220;If\u200b someone points a gun at you and cocks it, \u2063you can shoot them.&#8221;<br \/>\n \u2064\n  <\/div>\n<p>&#8220;At one point, the intruder pulled out a handgun, \u2062pointed it at her\u2063 brother, and cocked it,&#8221; Mr. \u2064Simmons added.<\/p>\n<p>He reiterated that no charges will be filed\u200d against the shooter at this time.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    Recent Florida laws,\u2063 including\u200b the Stand Your Ground legislation, have \u200bexpanded the rights of\u2064 individuals to \u200ddefend themselves against physical threats.<br \/>\n   \u2062<\/p>\n<h2>Stand Your Ground Laws<\/h2>\n<p>This\u200d legislation allows individuals to use nondeadly force to\u2063 protect themselves when they are in their \u200bown dwelling or residence and have no duty to retreat. \u2062They can also use deadly\u2063 force if \u2064they reasonably believe it\u200b is necessary to prevent imminent\u200b death, \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/florida-teacher-arrested-for-allegedly-spraying-disinfectant-at-students-who-didnt-wear-masks-properly-faces-felony-child-abuse-charges\/\" title=\"Florida teacher arrested for allegedly spraying disinfectant at students who didn't wear masks properly, faces felony child abuse charges\">great bodily harm<\/a>,\u200b or the commission \u2064of a forcible felony.<\/p>\n<p>Under this\u200c law, individuals who use deadly force\u200b to defend \u200dthemselves and their property\u2064 are\u200b exempt from prosecution.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Prior to the enactment \u200dof \u2062this \u200claw in 2005, Florida residents were not allowed to use deadly force in\u2062 self-defense without first attempting to retreat.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida man cleared of charges after shooting sister&#8217;s ex-boyfriend who broke into her home and attacked her.
