Previously, Minnesota required license applicants to provide proof of citizenship or lawful presence in the\u2064 United States.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The previous law, enacted in 2003, aimed to prevent individuals\u200b without <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-biden-immigration-orders-seek-to-reverse-trumps-policies-streamline-naturalization-process\/\" title=\"New Biden Immigration Orders Seek To Reverse Trump\u2019s Policies, Streamline Naturalization Process\">legal status<\/a> from obtaining a driver&#8217;s license due to security concerns following the 9\/11 attacks. However, supporters \u2063of DL4All argue that the program \u2063will enhance road safety through better\u200d driver vetting.<\/p>\n<p>Opponents, mainly Republicans, have expressed \u2064concerns that granting driver&#8217;s licenses to undocumented immigrants could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/81000-illegal-immigrants-will-soon-be-eligible-under-minnesotas-drivers-license-for-all-program\/\" title=\"81,000 illegal immigrants to qualify for Minnesota's 'Driver's License for All' soon.\">potentially encourage \u2064illegal immigration<\/a>, enable \u2063terrorists to exploit the system, \u2064and contribute to voter fraud.<\/p>\n<p>State Senator Glenn Gruenhagen, a Republican, raised a valid question\u200d during the Minnesota Senate discussions, asking how the bill prevents terrorists \u2063from obtaining a driver&#8217;s license and \u200busing \u200dit for malicious purposes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Democrats responded by \u2063stating \u2064that applicants would still need \u200bto provide documentation to obtain a driver&#8217;s license, including proof\u200d of identity. However, Senator Gruenhagen dismissed this explanation, highlighting the possibility of forged documents.<\/p>\n<h2>Class D License<\/h2>\n<p>Under the DL4All program, eligible applicants will be \u200dgranted a Class D driver&#8217;s license. It&#8217;s important to note that this license differs\u2064 from the enhanced and Real ID licenses \u2062available \u200cin Minnesota, which require proof of citizenship or qualifying immigration\u2062 status.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Minnesota Gov. Undocumented\u2064 immigrants may provide foreign passports, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/81000-illegal-immigrants-will-soon-be-eligible-under-minnesotas-drivers-license-for-all-scheme\/\" title=\"81,000 Illegal Immigrants Will Soon Be Eligible Under Minnesota\u2019s \u2018Driver\u2019s License for All\u2019 Scheme\">foreign birth certificates<\/a>, foreign\u200b adoption certificates,\u200d and \u200ccertain immigration filing and \u200dapproval notices as\u200b proof of\u200c identity.\u200b The DPS is not allowed to inquire about an applicant&#8217;s citizenship or immigration status.<\/p>\n<p>While the DPS is prohibited from sharing application information with agencies like U.S. Immigration and Customs\u200c Enforcement (ICE),\u200b there is one exception: if a court order is issued.<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Conference of\u200c State Legislatures,\u200b 18 other states and the District of Columbia already provide driver&#8217;s licenses to residents regardless of immigration \u200bstatus. These states include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois,\u2064 Maryland,\u2064 Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah,\u2063 Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Issuing driver&#8217;s\u200c licenses to undocumented immigrants is a crucial advocacy goal \u200bfor those <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/activist-lawyers-enlist-illegals-flown-to-marthas-vineyard-to-sue-gov-desantis\/\" title=\"Activist Lawyers Enlist Illegals Flown to Martha's Vineyard to Sue Gov.
