No Biden administration officials are scheduled to\u2062 testify \u200bat either.<\/p>\n<p>The Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, \u200dand \u2064Foreign Affairs has scheduled the first hearing, \u200btitled \u200b&#8221;A \u200bDangerous Strategy: Examining \u2062the Biden Administration\u2019s Failures \u200don Iran,&#8221; for Sept. \u206413.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses include Richard Goldberg, who worked on Iran policy at the National \u200dSecurity Council during the Trump administration and is now a senior adviser\u200d at the Foundation for the Defense \u200bof \u2063Democracies (FDD), a Washington think tank that&#8217;s known\u2063 to be \u200bhawkish on the Iranian regime; Jewish Institute for National Security President and CEO Michael \u200bMakovsky; and Victoria Coates, who was \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-to-hold-its-first-hearings-on-iran-since-2020-2\/\" title=\"House to hold first Iran hearings since 2020.\">deputy \u200cnational security adviser<\/a>\u2063 for Middle East and North African affairs \u2064in the Trump administration and is currently\u2063 vice president of the Kathryn and Shelby \u200cCullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200b hearing, according to \u200ba House \u200dOversight\u2064 Committee statement, &#8220;will examine how \u2062the Biden administration has repeatedly engaged\u2063 in secret negotiations with\u2062 Iran, ignoring the emerging\u2063 threats arising\u2062 from Iran and its proxies,&#8221; and &#8220;look at ways the Biden administration \u200bhas \u2064fallen\u2064 short in assisting Americans\u200b trapped abroad\u200b and\u2062 circumstances around dismissals of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-environmental-appointee-faces-conflict-of-interest-scrutiny-on-hill\/\" title=\"Biden Environmental Appointee Faces Conflict of Interest Scrutiny on Hill\">high-level officials<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Biden administration\u2019s\u200d foreign\u2062 policy \u2062decisions\u200d regarding Iran continue to defy logic\u200b and are\u2063 actively making Americans \u2064less safe at home and \u2064abroad,&#8221; the subcommittee&#8217;s chairman, \u200bRep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.), said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Despite promises, the \u2064Biden \u2063administration has failed to deliver transparency throughout negotiations \u200cof Iran\u2019s nuclear arsenal \u2064program and in \u200bits murky decision\u200b to dismiss\u200b high-level U.S. envoys,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Grothman cited last month&#8217;s transfer of American hostages detained in Iran to house\u2063 arrest from prison, \u200creportedly as part\u200b of \u200da deal \u2063in which the United States would\u2064 give Iran $6 billion \u200bin \u200doil sanctions relief. \u200dSecretary of State\u2063 Antony Blinken\u2064 has \u2064said Iran wouldn&#8217;t get such relief in any deal and that oil revenue would be\u2062 allowed to go only into restricted accounts to be \u200dused for \u2062strictly \u2063humanitarian purposes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Iranian regime poses \u200da great threat\u2062 to American foreign interests \u200dand \u2064stability in the Middle East region, and this hearing is a great opportunity \u200dto examine all these \u200bissues \u2063and \u200cprovide\u200c Americans at home with what the Biden administration\u2063 refuses to: transparency and answers,&#8221; Mr. Grothman said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Goldberg\u2062 told \u2062The Epoch Times that the hearing is part of confronting the administration&#8217;s\u2064 Iran \u200bpolicy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Biden administration is\u200b skirting a number of Iran-related laws enacted\u2063 by Congress \u2064with overwhelming bipartisan \u200bmajorities.\u2062 Congress needs to defend its\u2062 Iran sanctions architecture,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Exposing the \u200ddetails of the secret nuclear deal with Iran is the first\u200b step in stopping the secret nuclear deal with Iran.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The\u2063 second hearing is\u2062 set for Sept. \u206314. Hosted by the Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia, it&#8217;s\u200d titled &#8220;<span class=\"il\">Iran<\/span>\u2019s\u200b Escalating Threats: Assessing U.S. Policy Toward \u2062 <span class=\"il\">Iran<\/span>\u2019s\u200c Malign Activities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Witnesses include Norman Roule, who was the national intelligence \u2064manager for\u2062 Iran at the\u2064 Office \u2063of the Director of National Intelligence under Republican and Democrat presidents; Behnam Ben Taleblu, \u200da senior fellow\u200b at the FDD; Iranian author and\u2064 activist \u2062Masih Alinejad; and Suzanne Maloney, vice president and \u2064director of foreign policy at the\u2064 Brookings Institution, a left-wing think\u200b tank in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The hearings [are] both welcome and overdue\u2014like a doctor\u200b finally\u2063 prescribing an aspirin<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The House of Representatives will hold its first Iran hearings since 2020.
