Brent Bozell was found guilty of five felonies and five misdemeanors for smashing windows and entering the Senate Chamber at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Leo Brent Bozell IV, 44, of Palmyra, \u200cPennsylvania, was \u200dfound guilty\u2062 by U.S. District\u2062 Judge\u200c John D. He used\u200c a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/son-of-conservative-commentator-brent-bozell-found-guilty-of-10-jan-6-criminal-counts\/\" title=\"Brent Bozell's son convicted of 10 Jan. 6 crimes.\">bicycle rack\u200d barricade<\/a> as a\u200c makeshift ladder to gain access\u2063 to the northwest stairs and was one of the first protesters to surge past police to reach the upper terrace level, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>Outside the Senate Wing Door, Mr. Bozell used a hard object to smash one window 10 times, then moved over\u2062 a few feet and smashed another window 11 times \u200duntil\u200c the glass shattered, prosecutors said. He\u2062 tried to open\u2062 the\u200c doors to several areas, including the Senate majority leader\u2019s office and the Law Library, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bozell was one \u2062of the first protesters to enter the Senate Gallery.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBozell moved one of the C-SPAN cameras that \u2063was live \u200crecording the Senate chambers,\u2063 obstructing\u200c that camera from recording rioters ransacking the\u2064 chamber,\u201d prosecutors wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.228765\/gov.uscourts.dcd.228765.66.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trial brief<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote><\/div>\n<p>At 2:49 p.m.,\u2064 Mr. Bozell proceeded to the Senate floor, where\u2063 he stayed for\u200c six minutes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote>\n<h2>&#8216;Lost and Wandering&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>During most\u200d of Mr. Bozell\u2019s time inside the Capitol, he was \u201csimply lost and wandering from place-to-place \u200bobserving events as they transpired,\u201d\u200c defense attorney William L.\u200b Shipley <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.228765\/gov.uscourts.dcd.228765.65.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote in a trial brief.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote><\/div>\n<p>\u201cMr. Bozell was inside the Capitol for an extended period of time \u200bafter entering through \u2062the broken window,\u2062 but at no time was he engaged in any type of \u2062physical or violent confrontation with \u200bpolice officers or Congressional staff,\u201d Mr. Shipley wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Video evidence shows that Mr. Bozell \u201cassisted \u2062in some small\u200d way \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-secretary-of-state-investigating-voter-registration-group-run-by-democrat-raphael-warnock\/\" title=\"Georgia Secretary Of State Investigating Voter Registration Group Run By Democrat Raphael Warnock\">law enforcement officers<\/a> that he thought could be helped by his assistance,\u201d according to Mr. Shipley. \u200cIn one instance, \u201che \u200dattempted to aid a \u2064police officer who had been sprayed in the face with pepper spray, offering to assist him with\u2063 a bottle of water \u200dto wash his face and eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rfk-jr-denies-past-comments-antisemitic-at-house-hearing-smears-misinterpretation\/\" title=\"RFK Jr. rejects accusations of antisemitism at House hearing: 'Unfair attacks, misinterpretation'\">video \u2062evidence<\/a> is not only mitigating, but it also goes to the issue of \u2018intent\u2019 and\u200c \u2018state of\u2064 mind\u2019 of Mr. Bozell during his encounters with law\u2064 enforcement and other authorities in the\u2063 course of events on January 6, 2021,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bozell was arrested in Pennsylvania on Feb. 12, \u200d2021.
