(Rey Del Rio\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2><strong>Abortion Provider\u2063 Weighs In<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In support of the RHA is leading abortion provider Planned Parenthood of Michigan.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Alexis McGill Johnson, a spokesperson for the group, said in an online statement, \u201cWe applaud health care champions across Michigan for introducing \u200dthis critical legislation and\u2062 look forward to the historic Reproductive Health\u200d Act becoming law.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Planned Parenthood Advocates \u2064of Michigan CEO Paula Thornton Greear said in the same online <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miplannedparenthood.org\/post\/planned-parenthood-celebrates-introduction-of-reproductive-health-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a>, \u201cMichiganders turned out in\u2062 record numbers last year to pass Proposal 3 and protect the right to reproductive freedom \u200din our state\u200c constitution, but our work is not over.<\/div>\n<p>\u201cMichigan law \u200dstill contains a \u2064number \u200cof dangerous and unnecessary regulations that explicitly target patients and abortion providers and continue to \u200bobstruct access to essential care.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are\u200c grateful to the elected champions sponsoring the\u200b Reproductive \u200cHealth Act because we need to finish the job the voters started last November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we repeal these dangerous restrictions still littering Michigan\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-resuscitates-linkedins-attempt-to-leverage-anti-hacking-law-to-hide-public-data-from-rival\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Resuscitates LinkedIn\u2019s Attempt To Leverage Anti-Hacking Law To Hide Public Data From Rival\">law books<\/a>, patients will have greater access guaranteed\u200c to them under the Michigan state constitution,\u201d Ms.\u2062 Greear said.<\/p>\n<p>Other provisions in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/university-facilitated-gruesome-taxpayer-funded-experiments-with-aborted-fetuses\/\" title=\"University Facilitated Gruesome, Taxpayer-Funded Experiments With Aborted Fetuses\">proposed act<\/a> would allow Medicaid funds to pay for abortions; and to do\u2063 away with the mandatory 24-hour\u200c waiting period and informed consent requirements, such as women being shown an ultrasound image of their baby and materials explaining \u200bwhat happens during\u200b the procedure \u2063they are considering. The\u2064 women are also to \u200cbe presented with alternatives to abortion.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the new laws would eliminate building\u200c regulations that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tennessee-legislature-advances-bill-requiring-aborted-babies-to-be-buried-or-cremated\/\" title=\"Tennessee Legislature Advances Bill Requiring Aborted Babies To Be Buried Or Cremated\">require abortion facilities<\/a> to \u200dhave hospital-grade \u200boperating rooms, wide hallways, and be located in close proximity to a hospital.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Trained clinicians,\u2063 and not just\u2064 doctors, would be\u2063 authorized to perform abortions under the terms of \u200bthe new legislation.<\/div>\n<h2><strong>&#8216;Abortion \u2063is Health Care&#8217;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Also celebrating the RHA is Loren Khogali, executive\u200d director of the American\u2063 Civil Liberties Union of Michigan.<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Ms. Khogali posted on\u2062 the \u2062left-leaning activist organization&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclumich.org\/en\/press-releases\/aclu-applauds-michigan-legislature-introducing-reproductive-health-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>, \u201cWe are excited \u200cthat our state lawmakers are prioritizing \u2062reproductive health with the introduction of the Reproductive Health Act.<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAlthough abortion is legal in Michigan, it is not accessible to\u200d many people who already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-push-taxpayer-funded-abortions-overseas\/\" title=\"Dems Push Taxpayer-Funded Abortions Overseas\">face systemic barriers<\/a> to health care &#8230; Abortion\u2064 is health care, and the voters want this \u200dright protected,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The ACLU\u2019s Michigan legislative \u200bdirector, Merissa Kovach, posted\u200c on the website that\u200d RHA \u200brepeals dozens of\u200b \u201cmedically\u2062 unnecessary laws that have\u200b nothing to do with\u200d health \u2063care and everything to do with politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled and grateful that our legislature is prioritizing the health of Michiganders \u2026 Now is \u2062the time for our \u200delected\u2063 leaders to\u200d see this through.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Pro-life activist organization Right to Life of Michigan entered the \u200cdigital duel, voicing its opposition to RHA on\u2062 its <a href=\"https:\/\/rtl.org\/take-action-rha\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.\u200d &#8220;Now is the time to take immediate\u200b action \u200cby reaching out to your state legislators, \u200dno matter their political affiliation, and tell them to vote NO on the Reproductive Health Act,&#8221; \u200dit said.<\/div>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"aligncenter\"><figcaption>State Rep.\u2062 Josh Schriver (R-Oxford) at a press conference in Macomb County, Mich. on \u200bJuly 19, 2023.
