A series of bills, which have passed through one or both houses of the Golden State \u2064legislature, aim to hide childhood\u2064 proclamations of transgender identity\u2063 from parents and \u2063impose penalties on them for not &#8220;affirming&#8221; their child through social and medical\u200d interventions.<\/p>\n<h3>Parental Role and Affirmation<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Is it the role\u2064 of parents to affirm children? Or is it their role to guide and shape them \u2062into becoming good, \u200chonest, \u2063and healthy people? Since \u200bwhen do children know what\u2019s best for them?&#8221; questioned\u2062 American Principles Project President\u200d Terry\u2064 Schilling. He emphasized that parents should correct their children when they are wrong, \u200cincluding situations where a\u2064 child \u2063claims to be a different gender.\u200c Schilling believes that parents should not affirm this delusion, just as they would not affirm an underweight anorexic child\u200b as \u200bobese.<\/p>\n<p>Four out of five \u200bbills have\u2063 already passed both legislative chambers and are\u2064 now awaiting the governor&#8217;s \u200bsignature. The remaining bill has passed the\u2063 Senate and is pending approval at \u2062the State Assembly.<\/p>\n<h3>Child Abuse and Custody<\/h3>\n<p>The most \u2063recent bill, AB-957, passed with \u200doverwhelming \u200csupport in both chambers. It deems \u2063it &#8220;child abuse&#8221;\u200b to\u2064 disagree with a \u2063child&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-legislation-targets-schools-pushing-child-gender-transitions\/\" title=\"GOP Legislation Targets Schools Pushing Child Gender Transitions\">stated gender identity<\/a>. Additionally,\u200b the bill \u200cintroduces the \u2063possibility of a parent losing custody of their child if they do \u200cnot affirm the\u200c child&#8217;s gender \u2062transition. Judges\u200b will be required to consider a parent&#8217;s \u2064commitment to the child&#8217;s transition when assessing\u2064 the overall well-being of the child.<\/p>\n<p>State Representative Lori \u200cWilson emphasized that parents should affirm their children, especially when their gender identity \u200caligns\u200d with\u2062 their biological gender. However, critics argue that if the bill becomes law,\u200d parents who disagree with their child seeking social transitioning or gender transition procedures could face \u200cchild abuse charges\u2064 and potentially lose custody of their child.<\/p>\n<h3>Doctors and Minors&#8217; Consent<\/h3>\n<p>Another bill,\u2062 AB-655, allows \u200dminors to consent to &#8220;mental \u200bhealth services&#8221; without their parents&#8217; knowledge\u2064 or consent. The bill acknowledges that some children may face challenges in obtaining parental consent due to\u2064 their parents&#8217; beliefs \u200cor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gavin-newsom-faces-slate-of-transgender-bills-targeting-parental-rights\/\" title=\"Gavin Newsom confronts transgender bills impacting parental rights.\">stigma surrounding mental health care<\/a>. In such cases, doctors can determine if involving parents would be inappropriate.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, Chairman\u2063 of Do \u200dNo Harm, expressed concerns about the proposed laws, stating \u200bthat \u2063they are more likely to \u2062harm children rather than protect them.\u2062 He argued that the laws are based on a false speculation that\u200c gender transitions and\u200b medical interventions will benefit confused children, potentially causing \u200dthem further harm.<\/p>\n<h3>Training Teachers \u200cand Identifying Parents<\/h3>\n<p>The Safe\u200b and Supportive Schools Act requires school teachers to undergo training to identify parents who may not agree with their child&#8217;s\u200d stated gender identity. The bill aims to create a curriculum in &#8220;cultural\u200b competency&#8221; to\u200d support LGBTQ+ youth. This training includes sections on identifying\u200c LGBTQ+ \u2064youth who may face bullying or lack of \u2063acceptance at\u200c home or in their communities. However,\u200c it remains unclear how teachers or \u200cschool districts \u2063will handle the information\u200b once a\u200d parent has been identified.<\/p>\n<p>Terry Schilling criticized what he sees as a threat to children posed by individuals in the education system who believe\u200d they know and love children more than\u2064 their parents. It argues that restricting access to these materials would constitute discrimination and censorship, violating California law and policy.<\/p>\n<h3>Foster Parents \u2064and Alignment\u200d with Transgender Ideology<\/h3>\n<p>SB-407, if passed, would\u2064 require prospective\u2062 foster parents in California to \u200dalign their beliefs with transgender ideology. The law states that foster parents\u2064 must demonstrate an ability and willingness to meet the needs of a child regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. It also emphasizes the importance\u200d of obtaining resources to address any difficulties related to these issues.<\/p>\n<p>A similar law\u2063 in \u200cMassachusetts has\u200d already faced legal\u200d challenges from Catholic parents who were barred from the foster system due to their unwillingness to pursue\u200c transgender medical interventions for a child.<\/p>\n<p>California Attorney General Rob Bonta has filed a\u2062 lawsuit against a school \u200bdistrict that\u200b attempted to inform parents if their children began identifying with another gender at\u2062 school.<\/p>\n<p>As of \u2063now, \u2062there has \u200dbeen no comment from Gov.\u200d Gavin Newsom&#8217;s office regarding these\u200c bills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>California&#8217;s legislature has passed five bills that aim to hide child transgender identity from parents and penalize them.
