Instacart also sells ad space on its site, including to Pepsi and\u2062 Kellogg\u2019s, which want to promote products online.<\/p>\n<p>In April, it formed a\u200c partnership with \u200dvideo\u200d streaming company Roku that\u200c aims to\u2063 better track \u2063spending habits of those who use the services.<\/p>\n<p>Instacart, valued at $9.3 \u2064billion, said its grocery orders \u200cremained flat for the first six months of 2023 at 132.9 million compared to\u2064 the year-ago period, Securities and Exchange Commission filings showed.<\/p>\n<p>Gross transaction\u2063 value rose 4% to $14.94 billion over the same period,\u2062 while ad revenue grew 24% to $406 million from $327\u200b million.<\/p>\n<p>When Chief Executive Fidji Simo joined the \u200dcompany in 2021, she aimed to sign up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/instacarts-flat-shopping-orders-could-hurt-ad-growth-analysts\/\" title=\"Analysts warn that Instacart's flat shopping orders may harm ad growth.\">diverse retailers including beauty supply stores<\/a> and convenience stores to attract more shoppers and advertisers.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Lipsman, principal analyst at Insider Intelligence, sees potential ad growth in video streaming, but wants Instacart to expand deliveries more quickly to enhance its appeal to major advertisers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have \u200ban increase in \u200borders, there\u2019s also more \u2063ads to deliver \u200don that activity,\u201d Lipsman said.<\/p>\n<p>Many other retailers also sell ads on their websites to packaged food \u2063companies\u200c and \u200bconsumer\u2064 product makers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost CPG (consumer packaged \u200dgoods) brands are already advertising on Instacart. It\u2019s\u200d about getting them to spend more,\u201d which requires Instacart to\u2063 prove that ads on the platform will boost sales, Lipsman said.<\/p>\n<p>Gross profit grew \u200bfaster\u200c than gross transaction value for products\u200c sold on Instacart, including merchandise, taxes and fees. The \u2062challenge is to keep shoppers returning to spend money, Lipsman said.<\/p>\n<p>The company wants to increase the number of subscribers to\u200b its Instacart+ program who shop more frequently \u2062and place larger orders than non-members, its SEC filing said.<\/p>\n<p>Some advertisers may not be as worried about Instacart\u2019s slowed order growth, said Nikhil Raj, retail media\u200b business lead at ad solutions firm Moloco.<\/p>\n<p>As \u200blong as advertisers\u2064 see results from buying\u2063 ads on Instacart, they have no\u200c incentive to cut back, Raj said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you \u2063have multiple players in a category, the way you would grow \u2063your business\u200b on Instacart is by advertising.
