He \u2064declared that his office would not enforce Democratic Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-mexico-governor-floats-arrest-conceal-carry-holders-power-hungry-emergency-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michelle Lujan Grisham\u2019s<\/a> \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-mexico-sheriff-seals-the-deal-for-governor-announces-he-will-not-enforce-order-after-armed-citizens-pour-in\/\" title=\"NM Sheriff Refuses to Enforce Order as Armed Citizens Arrive\">30-day executive order suspending citizens\u2019 rights<\/a> to carry firearms\u2063 in the county.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BCSONM?\">@BCSONM<\/a> Sheriff John Allen, \u2064a Democrat, is refusing to enforce the\u200d New\u2064 Mexico Governor\u2019s unconstitutional order banning\u200b carrying \u2063guns in Albuquerque.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ICLAWZ5yW8\">pic.twitter.com\/ICLAWZ5yW8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Darvio Morrow (@DTheKingpin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DTheKingpin\/status\/1701326903800479880?\">September 11,\u200b 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Allen firmly stated, &#8220;The temporary ban challenges the foundations of our Constitution, but most importantly, it is unconstitutional. My oath was to protect the Constitution, and that is\u2062 what I will do,&#8221; as reported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/courts\/new-mexico-sheriff-special-session-unconsitutional-gun-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington Examiner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lujan Grisham signed the unconstitutional order on Friday, following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rapper-young-dolph-fatally-shot-at-tennessee-cookie-shop\/\" title=\"Rapper Young Dolph Fatally Shot at Tennessee Cookie Shop\">tragic shooting death<\/a> of 11-year-old Froylan Villegas in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/driver-opens-fire-on-actress-denise-richards-husband-in-los-angeles\/\" title=\"Driver Opens Fire On Actress Denise Richards, Husband In Los Angeles\u00a0\">apparent road-rage incident<\/a>. The governor justified her edict as a response to a &#8220;public health emergency.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Allen emphasized that even if enforced, the governor&#8217;s ban would not effectively reduce gun violence. He stated, &#8220;This order will not do anything to curb <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/philadelphia-shooting-suspect-told-police-killing-spree-help-fight-gun-violence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gun violence<\/a> other than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gun-rights-activist-tells-congress-education-can-reduce-shootings-not-more-laws\/\" title=\"Gun Rights Activist Tells Congress Education Can Reduce Shootings, Not More Laws\">punish law-abiding citizens<\/a> from their constitutional right of self-defense,&#8221; according to KOAT.<\/p>\n<p>Joining Allen in their refusal to enforce this unconstitutional order are Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman, \u200bAlbuquerque Mayor Tim Keller, \u2064and Police Chief Harold Medina. Bregman expressed, &#8220;As an officer of the court, I cannot and\u2062 will not enforce something that is clearly unconstitutional. This office will continue\u200d to focus on criminals of any age that use guns in the commission of a crime,&#8221; \u2062as reported by the Examiner.<\/p>\n<p>Over 100 people peacefully gathered in Albuquerque, \u200dopenly carrying weapons in defiance of the order. State police did not issue any citations, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-mexico-governor-loses-control-armed-citizens-roll-albuquerque\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Western Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, two Republican state lawmakers have already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lawmakers-officially-calling-impeachment-new-mexico-governor-suspension-gun-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called for<\/a> Lujan Grisham&#8217;s impeachment.<\/p>\n<p>This act of defiance by New Mexico&#8217;s public officials serves as a reminder that there are still individuals who refuse to trample on citizens&#8217; \u200cliberties \u200bunder the pretense of following orders. It is a testament to the existence of lines in the sand.<\/p>\n<p>Although the 30-day \u2063suspension of gun rights holds no practical meaning, Lujan Grisham&#8217;s attempt to subjugate the people of New Mexico remains \u200dconcerning.
