Democratic \u200cGov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/school-board-defies-gavin-newsom-rejects-curriculum-despite-governors-threats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gavin Newsom<\/a> has until Oct. 14 to sign or veto the measure.<\/p>\n<p>The bill\u2019s author, Democratic Rep. Lori Wilson, has claimed to have a transgender child. On the Assembly floor, Wilson also\u200d disingenuously stated that her bill would\u2064 give contending parents no undue\u200d advantages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis \u200ddoes not\u2063 put a\u2064 thumb on\u2063 the\u200d scale of\u2062 one parent,\u201d Wilson said on Friday. \u201cIt merely asks judges to consider this\u2064 as\u2064 one factor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wilson\u2019s euphemistic use of the \u2064word \u200c\u201casks\u201d amounts to typical leftist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-makes-whole-new-language-guide-neopronouns-nounself-pronouns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newspeak<\/a>. In fact, her bill does much more than ask.<\/p>\n<p>Section 3011 of the state\u2019s family code requires\u200b that \u201cthe court shall\u201d consider multiple factors\u2063 in granting custody. That code lists the\u2064 \u201chealth,\u2063 safety, and welfare of \u2064the child\u201d as the\u2064 first factor.<\/p>\n<p>The new bill, <a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202320240AB957\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AB-957<\/a>, amended\u2063 this first \u2063factor by adding new\u200b language.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs used in this paragraph, the health, safety,\u2064 and welfare of the \u2062child includes, among\u2064 other comprehensive factors,\u200c a parent\u2019s affirmation \u200dof the child\u2019s gender identity or gender expression. Affirmation includes \u200da range of actions and will be unique for each child, but in every case must promote the child\u2019s overall health and well-being,\u201d the amendment reads.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, we see rather clearly the difference between \u201casks\u201d and \u201cthe court shall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In June testimony before \u2064the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/california-city-takes-bold-stance-pro-freedom-stance-late-night-vote-ban-covid-mandates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">California<\/a> Senate Judicial Committee, parent and attorney Erin\u200d Friday noted the bill\u2019s compulsory nature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no nuance in this bill.
