At no point in her life did Grisham receive any training in medicine or science.\u2063 Instead, she has a Bachelor \u2062of Arts degree in something called \u201cuniversity studies.\u201d For the uninitiated, a degree in \u201cuniversity \u2063studies\u201d \u2062is \u200bwhat people \u200bget when they don\u2019t want to study in a university. Then Grisham earned a law degree, which of course, also has nothing to\u200b do with public health. Afterwards, for several years, Grisham\u200d worked at a state department dealing with aging and long-term services. She eventually directed\u2063 the department.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Those were Michelle Lujan Grisham\u2019s credentials when, in 2004, she became the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tyrannical-leftist-woman-tries-to-abolish-the-second-amendment\/\" title=\"Leftist woman attempts to abolish Second Amendment.\">highest-ranking public health official<\/a> in the state \u2062of New \u200dMexico.<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Those were Michelle Lujan Grisham\u2019s credentials when, in 2004, she became the highest-ranking public health official in the state of New Mexico. Presumably, the fact she came from a prominent political family in the state didn\u2019t hurt her chances of getting the job. Whatever the case, Grisham\u2019s tenure as the state\u2019s\u200c Secretary of Health was unremarkable. She only had the post for a \u200ccouple of years before\u2063 moving on.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>But many years later, in 2020, the incoming\u2064 Biden administration \u2064took a very close look\u200b at Michelle Lujan Grisham.<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But many years later, in 2020, the incoming Biden administration took a\u200d very close look \u200bat Michelle Lujan Grisham. For reasons that remain unknown, the Biden administration apparently believed Grisham\u2019s limited expertise in the field of public health from more than a decade ago qualified her to run the Department of\u200d Health and\u200b Human Services. This is the department that oversees all public health issues in the entire country. Biden\u2019s aides publicly courted her for the job. They said she was under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/11\/24\/biden-health-secretary-pick-440520\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">careful consideration<\/a>. Ultimately, though, Grisham decided to\u2063 remain as governor of New Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>In that capacity, from the beginning, Grisham \u2062governed less like a politician, and more like a public health bureaucrat with limitless \u2063powers.<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In that capacity, from the beginning, Grisham governed less like a \u2063politician, and more like a public health bureaucrat with limitless powers. For the past three years, Grisham has ruled the \u200dstate under an indefinite public health emergency.\u2062 As recently as late last year \u2014 when most of the country had moved on from COVID \u2014 Grisham was issuing <a href=\"https:\/\/cv.nmhealth.org\/public-health-orders-and-executive-orders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">orders<\/a> requiring that state workers\u2062 and hospital employees \u2062wear masks and take a regular schedule of COVID shots. Grisham\u200d often cited \u201cexperts\u201d like herself to justify these \u2062unlawful and increasingly untenable mandates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">By March \u2063of this year, though, the people of New \u2062Mexico finally had enough. Grisham, lacking the political will to sustain yet another extension of her public health \u2063powers, formally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmhealth.org\/news\/alert\/2023\/3\/?view=1937\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ended<\/a> the COVID emergency in\u2062 the state.\u200d It took long enough, but Grisham\u2019s \u2064authority to issue unilateral edicts was \u200dgone.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Put \u200cyourself\u200c in Michelle Lujan \u200cGrisham\u2019s position at that moment.<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Put yourself in Michelle Lujan Grisham\u2019s position at that moment. How would you handle the reality that you can no longer rule your state\u2064 like a dictator? If you were a well-adjusted person who cared about your constitutional\u200b oath of office, you\u2019d probably be thankful the emergency is \u2063over\u2062 \u2014 \u200ceven \u200bif it was fake to begin with. You wouldn\u2019t want to \u2064assert arbitrary, extralegal powers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suffice it to say, that wasn\u2019t Michelle Grisham\u2019s reaction. Instead she immediately \u200cbegan ruminating about other ways that she \u200dcould\u2064 expand her emergency powers. \u200bIn \u200bMay, in a conversation that didn\u2019t receive any attention from the media, Grisham spoke to Johns Hopkins University\u2019s school of public health about her plan to expand the field of \u201cpublic health\u201d to encompass every imaginable policy issue. This is footage \u200dthat should have set off \u2063a lot of alarm bells, but no one\u200b even talked \u200cabout it. Watch:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>And then she says:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Everything <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is\u200c a public health issue,\u201d says Michelle Lujan Grisham. She says that \u200dincludes poverty, climate change, gun violence. \u201cLet\u2019s \u200bfix the world,\u201d Grisham says,\u2063 as the \u200cJohns \u2064Hopkins public health lady nods and grins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You might \u2064be wondering when it became the goal of the public health\u2062 industry to \u201cfix the world.\u201d Wasn\u2019t\u200c the gig to make sure\u200d the public\u2064 is healthy? Not anymore, apparently. In fact, that hasn\u2019t been the goal since COVID. You might remember it was a Johns Hopkins \u201cpublic health expert\u201d named Jennifer Nuzzo who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/magazine\/2020\/06\/04\/public-health-protests-301534\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a> that it\u2019s a bad \u200bidea to riot during the COVID pandemic\u2062 \u2014 unless you\u2019re rioting for George Floyd and BLM, in which case, \u200bgo for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So public health isn\u2019t the goal anymore. Now the \u2063goal is to pursue social justice. Now the goal is to correct every problem with the world \u2014 and the people who identify the \u201cproblems\u201d are Governor Grisham and other Left-wing bureaucrats like her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You \u200dcan think of a variety of terms to describe what\u2019s going on \u200dhere. \u201cMission creep\u201d comes to mind. It\u2019s also incoherent, because if every problem is a public\u2062 health problem, then\u2063 \u201cpublic health\u201d has outlived its usefulness as a\u2063 distinct category. If everything is a public health issue, nothing is a public health\u200b issue. \u200dWhatever you call this phenomenon we\u2019re seeing, it\u2019s\u2063 obvious what \u200cGrisham is doing\u2062 and why she\u2019s doing it. Like the rest\u200c of \u200cthe public health establishment, she has realized that she can assume totalitarian powers as long as she can claim to address some \u201cpublic health matter.\u201d The \u2064solution\u200b is to label everything a public health matter. If she manages\u200d to do that, then she gets\u200b control of everything. That was her approach, and she said it out loud in front of a friendly audience back \u2063in May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A couple of days ago, as you might have seen, Grisham put the next stage of her plan into\u2064 motion. She announced a\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.state.nm.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/090823-PHO-guns-and-drug-abuse.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cpublic health order\u201d<\/a> that prohibits residents in so-called high crime areas, including\u200b New Mexico\u2019s biggest city,\u200d from possessing firearms outside their homes. In making this\u200b announcement, Grisham admits that criminals won\u2019t follow\u2063 the law. She also acknowledges she\u2019s probably going to get overturned in the courts eventually. But she\u200b doesn\u2019t care. She\u2019s not even pretending \u2064there\u2019s \u200cany legal merit to this. She doesn\u2019t even suggest that criminals will obey it. It\u2019s all about the message.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What is that \u2064message exactly? Superficially, what Grisham is saying is that no right is \u201cabsolute,\u201d in her words. That\u2019s basically true, of course. That\u2019s why there\u2019s a \u200clegal process for removing rights.\u200c If you\u2019re convicted of murder, you lose your right to carry a \u200cgun, for example.\u200d Most people have no issue with that. Certainly everyone would agree that you can\u2019t bring your gun with you into prison. But\u200d Grisham is attempting to strip everyone\u2019s basic constitutional rights all at once, by the stroke of a\u2063 pen. And her reasoning to\u2063 justify that dramatic expansion of her authority\u200b is ludicrous. There has always been \u201cgun crime.\u201d What exactly makes it a\u200b special emergency now?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In that clip, you heard Grisham allude to \u2063something approaching an explanation, at\u200d least in her view. She\u2062 says that \u2062an 11-year-old child was just shot and <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/11-year-dead-woman-injured-after-shots-fired\/story?id=103002572\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">killed<\/a> in a\u2062 road rage\u200c accident near a baseball stadium in Albuquerque. Someone\u200c shot 17 times at a moving vehicle, \u200dkilling the \u200dchild and critically injuring a woman in the \u2063car.  Therefore, Grisham says, because of this emotionally charged episode, we need to punish every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/utah-axes-gun-permit-requirement\/\" title=\"Utah Axes Gun-Permit Requirement\u00a0\">law-abiding gun owner<\/a> in the entire state. We need to turn them into criminals. If \u200croad rage is the issue,\u200b then you\u2019d think she would ban cars. But I guess she doesn\u2019t think she can get away with that \u2014 yet \u2014 \u2064so she\u2019s \u2064settling\u2062 just for the guns. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/episode\/ep-1219-tyrannical-leftist-woman-tries-to-abolish-the-second-amendment-member-exclusive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show<\/a><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interestingly enough, Grisham doesn\u2019t display any curiosity about the assailant in that shooting. \u200dAt the moment Grisham\u200c issued that order ending the Second Amendment in New Mexico because\u200c this 11-year-old was killed, authorities didn\u2019t \u200cknow the identity of the suspect. They didn\u2019t know\u200d a single thing \u200babout him. That\u2019s more than a little strange, if you think about it. You have\u200d to wonder: what kind of \u200cperson shoots\u200b a \u200dmoving vehicle 17 times due to \u201croad rage?\u201d Are we talking about someone with a criminal history, perhaps? Maybe someone on probation? Could\u2064 it be that we\u2019re \u2062not \u2062even talking about an American citizen at all?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Those \u200care questions that Grisham very badly doesn\u2019t want you to think about. But they\u2019re reasonable questions, especially if you\u2019re familiar with the numbers on how many felons and illegal aliens are shooting up\u200d the streets\u2063 in New Mexico right\u200d now \u2014 thanks in large part to\u200d policies that Grisham and her fellow Democrats have enacted. Nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/pundits-blog\/crime\/329589-the-truth-about-crime-illegal-immigrants-and-sanctuary-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">half<\/a> of all federal crimes in the entire country are committed in states like New Mexico that sit along \u200dthe Mexican border. There\u2019s a reason for that; it\u2019s called open\u200c borders. But Democrats in the \u200bstate\u2062 haven\u2019t\u2062 done anything about it. In fact, during the Trump administration, Grisham <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/michelle-lujan-grisham-jay-inslee-on-face-the-nation-democratic-governors-blast-trumps-illegal-emergency-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refused<\/a> to call the border crisis an emergency. But now she\u2019s saying the Second Amendment\u2062 is a \u2062problem, not the criminals in her state who are shooting people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Where is this leading, exactly? Again, Grisham knows\u200b her order is \u2062going to get overturned eventually, which is probably why \u200dshe limits \u2063it \u200cto 30 days. She\u2019s hoping the courts will take longer than 30 days to strike this down. So what\u2019s the real agenda here? Is this order just a trial balloon to introduce\u2064 this idea\u2064 to the public, so that down the \u200dline, \u2062these kinds of \u201cemergency\u200b orders\u201d are more palatable?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reading between the lines, you can see that the Democratic Party views it that \u2062way. Following Grisham\u2019s order, to the surprise of many conservatives, Democratic Senator Ted Lieu, along with the deeply neurotic \u200banti-gun Harvard \u200bkid David Hogg,\u200c came out and criticized the order as unconstitutional. They used almost precisely the same language, which tells you that a memo went out somewhere, to coordinate Left-wing messaging on this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here\u2019s what Lieu wrote: \u201cI support gun safety laws.\u200b However \u2026 No state in the union can suspend the federal Constitution. There is\u2064 no such thing as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-governor-facing-calls-of-impeachment-from-musk-after-attack-on-2a\/\" title=\"Democrat Governor faces impeachment calls from Musk over 2A attack.\">state public health\u2063 emergency exception<\/a> to the U.S. Constitution.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hogg wrote basically the same thing: \u201cI support gun safety but there is no such thing as \u200ba <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/whats-going-on-gun-grabbing-leftists-are-suddenly-acting-like-theyre-pro-constitution\/\" title=\"Gun control advocates are now claiming to support the Constitution. What's happening?\">state public health emergency exception<\/a> to the U.S. Constitution.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">First of\u200b all, notice how creepy it is\u200b that a Harvard\u2063 brat and a U.S. senator are sourcing their\u200c talking points from the same mysterious higher power. Those posts did not come from Ted Lieu\u2019s office or from\u200b the brilliant mind of David Hogg. They probably came from \u200bthe D.N.C., which is providing messaging on how to handle this. For that reason, it\u2019s worth parsing the messages very carefully. Both messages say there\u2019s no *state* exception to the U.S. Constitution that allows for public\u200b health emergencies to supersede constitutional rights. That sounds good, but of course it doesn\u2019t go far enough\u200b \u2014 not even \u2062close. They\u2019re deliberately leaving open the possibility \u2062that the \u2064*federal* government might be \u2063able to step in and create such public health exemptions to\u2063 constitutional rights. They\u2019re reserving that power for Congress at some point in the future, even as they say the \u200dstates \u2063can\u2019t do it on their own.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s a big deal because if you think back to COVID, some of the\u200d biggest infringements on civil liberties came from the federal government\u2019s assertion of emergency powers. The C.D.C. nationalized the country\u2019s rental properties. They made it illegal\u200d for landlords to evict tenants,\u2064 even\u2064 when those tenants weren\u2019t paying rent. Nothing like that has ever \u200bhappened in this country, but a so-called \u201cpublic health agency\u201d did it. And of course the Biden administration fired service \u2063members who didn\u2019t take the shot. In \u2062fact \u2063they \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/04\/1048939858\/osha-biden-vaccine-mandate-employers-100-workers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tried<\/a> to have more than 100 million workers in private companies fired unless they took the shot or submitted to regular COVID testing. Over and over again, the \u200bfeds set the blueprint \u2064for COVID \u2063totalitarianism, and the states followed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Is that what they\u2019re planning for the next \u201cemergency\u201d? Will the federal government \u2062attempt \u2063to use \u201cemergency powers\u201d to supersede the Second Amendment, as they superseded all of our rights during COVID?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For the moment, thankfully, it doesn\u2019t appear that this attempt to unilaterally end the Second Amendment in New Mexico will succeed. For one thing,\u200c several law enforcement officials in New Mexico have come out\u2062 and said they\u2019d refuse \u200dto enforce this order. Yesterday, as the journalist Ford Fischer documented, \u2064protesters \u2014\u200d many of them openly carrying \u2014\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/gun-owners-in-new-mexico-openly-carry-firearms-in-defiance-of-tyrannical-democrat-governor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">showed\u2064 up in \u200cAlbuquerque<\/a>, \u2064and the police didn\u2019t do anything about it. On one hand, this is obviously encouraging. It shows why \u200dwe have the Second\u200c Amendment in the first place. It\u2019s a self-reinforcing amendment, essentially. When everyone\u2019s\u200d armed, it\u2019s awfully difficult for police to \u2063disarm everyone without violence \u2014 violence that \u2064no politician\u2062 wants to be responsible for, at least\u2063 not yet. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But at\u200c the\u2062 same time, this is all\u200b still profoundly distressing.\u2062 It shouldn\u2019t fall on American citizens to go out in public and risk arrest, or civil penalties totaling thousands of dollars, to enjoy \u200ca constitutional right. The simple fact that \u200dthis \u2062kind of demonstration is even necessary is a huge win for the Left. This is a win for the \u2064partisans who want to chip \u200caway at our constitutional rights, bit\u200b by\u200d bit, until they\u2019re gone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We know that because Grisham should be in prison right now. She is conspiring\u2064 to undermine the federal \u200brights of American citizens, which according\u2062 to\u2064 the precedent set by the Trump prosecutions, is supposedly\u200c a very \u2063serious crime. And \u2064unlike Trump, Grisham is openly admitting that she intends to subvert Americans\u2019 constitutional rights. In \u2062fact, as of last night, Grisham was openly \u2062bragging about all of this on \u2063Twitter. So why isn\u2019t every D.A. in New Mexico bringing charges against Grisham tonight? Where are the RICO charges? Where are the raids\u2064 on her mansion? Why \u2064isn\u2019t she being frog-marched down the street in handcuffs? Why aren\u2019t they trying to throw her in \u200cprison for the rest of her life? That\u2019s \u2064what she deserves. And it\u2019s what the Left would \u200bobviously do if the shoe was on the other \u2064foot. Imagine if a Republican governor tried to, I\u2063 don\u2019t know, unilaterally suspend the 19th Amendment, \u200barguing that women voters are a threat to the country and our way of life. How do we think Democrats would respond to that?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Well if Grisham\u2019s \u200dorder was a trial balloon, the response from the right has been woefully insufficient. Tyrants have always used emergencies, whether real or imaginary, to justify their power grabs. COVID was the pivotal \u2063moment \u200dwhen most of the country laid down and allowed the government to suspend essentially all of our rights for the sake of protecting us \u200bagainst a cold. Career bureaucrats like Governor Michelle Grisham took note of that.\u2062 Now she\u2019s taking\u2062 it to the next level, and she\u2019s\u2063 getting only minimal pushback.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s not hard to imagine where this goes next. As we showed\u2063 you in that video from Johns Hopkins, Grisham herself has\u200c outlined the plan from here. We can\u2063 expect a \u201cclimate change emergency\u201d to justify\u2062 banning cars, a \u201ctransphobia emergency\u201d to shut down non-affirming speech, a \u201cracism emergency\u201d to ram through a federal \u2064reparations plan, a \u201cpoverty emergency\u201d to redistribute \u2062wealth. The possibilities are endless.
