Rufo and the other trustees were recently appointed by DeSantis to transform the college into a conservative institution, taking inspiration from Hillsdale\u2064 College.<\/p>\n<h3>Education Advocates \u200dLaunch Speech Code Tracker<\/h3>\n<p>In a post \u200bon his Substack, Rufo described the \u2064investigation\u2062 as a &#8220;brazen attempt to\u200d subvert the democratic\u2062 governance of New College and\u2062 entrench left-wing\u200d ideological programs under\u2062 the guise of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-blue-state-claw-back\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Blue State Claw Back\">civil rights law<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Last week, the Department of Education&#8217;s Office for Civil Rights opened an investigation into the \u2064Sarasota-based university, where\u2064 I serve as a \u200ctrustee, for alleged &#8216;discrimination on the basis of disability,'&#8221; Rufo stated in\u2063 a Washington Examiner interview. &#8220;They want to use civil rights law to force everyone\u200d to falsify reality and \u2063use absurd, ideologically \u200dloaded &#8216;neo-pronouns.&#8217; I will never bend. I will never bow. I will never submit to the Biden administration&#8217;s pronoun police.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to New College of Florida&#8217;s interim \u200dPresident Richard\u2064 Corcoran, \u2063the Department of Education&#8217;s Office for Civil Rights announced the\u200d launch\u2062 of an investigation into the school for potential violations of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-college-of-florida-trustee-blasts-civil-rights-investigation-pronoun-police\/\" title=\"Trustee of New College of Florida criticizes civil rights investigation as 'Pronoun police'\">federal civil rights laws protecting individuals<\/a> \u200cwith\u2063 disabilities. \u2064The investigation was initiated following a complaint filed against the school.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Complainant alleges that the College is failing to afford persons with disabilities an opportunity to participate in and benefit\u2064 from\u200c the services,\u2063 programs, and\u2062 activities\u2063 communicated through the \u200cCollege&#8217;s websites and third-party websites \u200dthat is\u200b equal to opportunities afforded to others,&#8221; stated the department in the letter.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u2064 complaint, the school was accused of violating federal civil \u200drights law by removing gender-neutral bathroom signs. The complaint also highlighted the trustees&#8217; decision to eliminate \u200dthe school&#8217;s diversity, equity, and inclusion programs,\u2062 as well as the gender studies department, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jan-6-prisoner-who-was-denied-cancer-treatment-now-in-dire-straits\/\" title=\"Jan. 6 Prisoner Who Was Denied Cancer Treatment Now \"In Dire Straits\"\">potential civil rights violations<\/a>.
