Michelle Lujan \u200cGrisham on Sept. 8 after issuing \u2063an \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/new-mexico-governor-bans-carrying-guns-says-constitution-not-absolute-5489001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emergency public health<\/a> order following recent shootings that\u200c led to the deaths of\u2063 several children. The ban is in effect in Albuquerque\u200b and the surrounding \u2062Bernalillo County for \u2062at least 30 \u2064days.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In a Sept. 9 post on\u200c X, \u2064Sheriff \u200bJohn Allen from Bernalillo County said that he \u200dis not\u200d in \u201ccomplete alignment with the Governor&#8217;s recent order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have reservations regarding this order. \u2064While I\u200d understand and appreciate the urgency, the \u200dtemporary ban challenges the foundation of our Constitution, \u2064which I swore \u200ban oath to \u200cuphold. I am wary of placing my deputies in positions that could\u200b lead to civil\u2063 liability conflicts, as \u2064well as the potential risks \u2064posed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-governor-facing-calls-of-impeachment-from-musk-after-attack-on-2a\/\" title=\"Democrat Governor faces impeachment calls from Musk over 2A attack.\">prohibiting law-abiding citizens<\/a> from their constitutional right \u2064to self-defense,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2>Order \u2062Comes Under\u200c Criticism<\/h2>\n<p>The gun\u2064 ban has attracted severe criticism \u2063online.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe Governor of\u2064 New Mexico now wants to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/we-will-not-comply-gun-owners-publicly-defy-new-mexico-governors-firearms-ban\/\" title=\"Gun owners openly defy New Mexico governor's firearms ban: 'We won't comply'.\">arrest law-abiding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/can-biden-help-unite-america\/\" title=\"Can Biden Help Unite America?\">gun owners<\/a>\u200d simply<\/a>\u2062 for owning guns. Either she isn\u2019t aware of the Constitution or has simply decided to go fascist and ignore \u200cit. Either way, we \u2064have\u200b a problem,\u201d Rep. So what the New Mexico governor is doing will prevent lawful gun owners\u200c from protecting themselves against criminal gun users. Never forget: when a \u200dDemocrat talks about\u2064 gun control, they really\u2062 mean PEOPLE control,\u201d she said in another post.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. \u200bMike \u200cBraun (R-Ind.) pointed out that he had introduced an amendment a month back that sought to prevent President\u2062 Joe Biden or the Department of Health &#038; Human\u200b Services (HHS) from\u2064 declaring a\u2062 \u201cpublic health emergency\u201d to impose gun control measures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCritics\u200b said that would \u200bnever happen. Well, the Governor \u2064of New Mexico just did it. We need this amendment to become law,\u201d he said in \u200ba Sept. 10 post on \u200cX.<\/p>\n<p>Legal scholar Jonathan Turley called the governor&#8217;s temporary ban on guns a \u201cflagrantly unconstitutional\u201d \u2063act.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2>Lawsuits Against the Order<\/h2>\n<p>Multiple lawsuits have been filed\u200d against Ms. \u200cGrisham\u2019s\u200c order. On \u200bSept. 9, Gun Owners of America \u200dand the\u2063 Gun Owners Foundation filed a \u200dlawsuit \u200din the U.S. \u2063District Court for \u200bthe District \u200bof New Mexico.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The\u2064 lawsuit\u200c (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunowners.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Complaint-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) accuses defendants in the case, including Ms. Grisham and other \u2062state officials,\u2062 of ordering\u200b the\u2064 New Mexico state \u2062police to\u200b act as a \u201cprivate army of stormtroopers\u201d to enforce\u200d the \u201copen and notorious subversion of constitutional rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere \u200dis no defense to \u200cDefendants\u2019 actions\u2014legal, moral, or otherwise.
