Todd received a 12-year\u2062 sentence\u200b for conspiracy to commit bank fraud,\u2063 bank fraud, \u2062tax fraud, and conspiracy\u200c to defraud\u200c the United States. Julie received a seven-year sentence for the same charges plus an additional charge each of wire fraud and \u2064obstruction of\u200c justice.<\/p>\n<p>But on \u200dSeptember 8, the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Todd&#8217;s sentence had been reduced by two years and Julie&#8217;s had been reduced by 14 months, Today <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/popculture\/news\/why-are-todd-julie-chrisley-in-prison-rcna104167\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is not uncommon for prisoners to be released early for good behavior, so the new, earlier release dates likely \u200dreflect \u200cthat contingency.<\/p>\n<p><h3>Harsh Conditions\u2062 in Prison<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>In July, the Chrisley&#8217;s children <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/todd-and-julie-chrisleys-kids-describe-parents-prison-nightmare-including-venomous-snakes-black-mold-and-no-air-conditioning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">described<\/a> \u200dthe &#8220;inhumane conditions&#8221; at the prisons where \u2063their \u2063parents are being held.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They both have no\u2062 air. No air conditioning &#8230; They&#8217;re both in states where it gets 100-plus degrees. And there&#8217;s no\u2062 air\u200b conditioning,&#8221; Chase Chrisley said.<\/p>\n<p>The couple&#8217;s daughter, Savannah, claimed their mom had seen venomous snakes in her cell.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No s***&#8230;.I don&#8217;t care\u200c if you\u200c killed somebody, if you&#8217;re in a government \u200dfacility, you should have air \u2063conditioning. Like \u200cthat&#8217;s just ridiculous,&#8221;\u200d Chase said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Air conditioning is the least of it. Whenever you&#8217;ve got black mold, asbestos, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">lead-based paint<\/a>, \u2063snakes,&#8221; Savannah responded.<\/p>\n<p>Savannah added, &#8220;It is prison, so we&#8217;re not gonna sit here\u200c and act like it should be the Four Seasons.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><h3>Background and Legal Troubles<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Chrisleys <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/reality-tv-stars-todd-and-julie-chrisley-start-prison-sentences\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported to prison<\/a> in January, following their sentencing last November.<\/p>\n<p>Todd Chrisley made a \u200cfortune \u200bthrough Chrisley Asset Management, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-was-just-one-spawn-of-the-powerful-who-occupied-a-network-that-might-be-called-family-inc\/\" title=\"Hunter Was Just One Spawn Of The Powerful Who Occupied A Network That Might Be Called \u2018Family, Inc.\u2019\">real estate company<\/a> he founded in Georgia. The success of the business, combined with Todd&#8217;s personality and \u2062large \u200cfamily, \u2064made \u2063him a perfect candidate for reality\u200d TV, which led to &#8220;Chrisley Knows Best.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Even before the Chrisleys began their reality show in 2014, they \u2063had financial problems. In 2012, Todd filed for \u200cbankruptcy \u2062protection. \u2064Explaining \u2064the \u200bfiling, his lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tv\/chrisley-knows-best-inside-todd-chrisleys-45-million-bankruptcy-case\/#:~:text=After%20a%20large%20business%20investment,have%20been%20fine%2C%20financially.%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told People<\/a>, &#8220;He guaranteed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/reality-tv-stars-todd-and-julie-chrisleys-sentences-have-been-reduced\/\" title=\"Todd and Julie Chrisley, reality TV stars, have had their sentences reduced.\">real \u200cestate development \u2062loan<\/a> \u2062and it failed. He was on the hook for $30 million. If he hadn&#8217;t had that happen, he would have been fine, financially.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Justice (DOJ), however, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-ndga\/pr\/reality-tv-stars-convicted-fraud-and-tax-evasion?ftag=YHF4eb9d17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explained<\/a> that the Chrisleys\u200b \u2014 prior to\u2063 their reality show \u2014 &#8220;conspired to defraud community banks in the Atlanta area to obtain more than \u2063$30 \u200cmillion in personal loans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With the help \u2063of a\u200c business \u200bpartner, <a href=\"https:\/\/popculture.com\/reality-tv\/news\/todd-chrisley-ex-business-partner-mark-braddock-claims-had-affair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mark Braddock<\/a>, the Chrisleys &#8220;submitted false\u200c bank\u200d statements, audit reports, \u200band \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/reality-stars-convicted-of-bank-fraud-tax-evasion\/\" title=\"Reality Stars Convicted Of Bank Fraud, Tax Evasion\">personal financial statements<\/a> to banks to obtain the millions of dollars in fraudulent loans,&#8221; the\u2064 DOJ wrote.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, the couple&#8217;s problems expanded. WSB-TV <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/news\/local\/north-fulton-county\/state-issues-liens-against-reality-star-after-channel-2-investigation\/505362349\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> at the \u200ctime that the Chrisleys owed nearly $800,000 in taxes\u2063 to the state\u2063 of Georgia and had \u2062declared\u200b their residency on\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-reality-star-todd-chrisley-was-accused-of-fraud-a-former-employee-testified-she-sabotaged-him-for-his-former-business-partner\/\" title=\"Former Reality Star Todd Chrisley Was Accused Of Fraud. A Former Employee Testified She Sabotaged Him For His Former Business Partner.\">numerous public records<\/a> before moving to Nashville, Tennessee, in\u200b 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, Todd \u2064sued Homebanc Mortgage Corporation, Radar Online <a href=\"https:\/\/radaronline.com\/exclusives\/2019\/08\/todd-chrisley-blamed-business-partner-morgage-forgery-before-indictment-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>, alleging a &#8220;former\u2064 business partner&#8221; forged Todd&#8217;s name on the mortgage and made some payments on \u2062his behalf. Todd also claimed that the same business partner was the reason \u200dhe had to file for bankruptcy protection in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019,\u2064 the Chrisleys were \u200dindicted.
