It did not go well.<\/p>\n<p>During one\u200c leg of the June trip, NPR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/09\/10\/1187224861\/electric-vehicles-evs-cars-chargers-charging-energy-secretary-jennifer-granholm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> Sunday, Granholm planned to \u2062stop \u2064at a \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-promotes-future-of-electric-cars-after-test-driving-100k-electric-hummer\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Promotes Future of Electric Cars After Test Driving 0K Electric Hummer\">public charging station<\/a> outside of Augusta, Georgia,\u200b before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/articles\/energy-facts-impact-investing-america-agenda-georgia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">continuing northwest<\/a> to Athens. Before Granholm arrived, however, her staff realized the station would not be able to accommodate Granholm&#8217;s caravan\u2014one charger was broken and others \u2062were in use.\u2062 Granholm&#8217;s team \u2064responded\u200b by using a\u2062 gas-powered\u200b car\u2062 to block the public \u2062from\u2062 accessing the station&#8217;s only available\u2063 charger,\u2063 prompting \u200done family\u2014which had a baby in\u200b the car on a \u200chot Georgia day\u2014to call\u200c the police.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2064revelation reflects\u2063 the electric \u2064vehicle issues that are plaguing the Biden administration&#8217;s prized green energy transition. President Joe Biden has worked to \u200cspur EV\u2064 adoption\u2062 by \u2063spending hundreds\u2063 of billions of\u2064 dollars on charging \u200cinfrastructure\u200b and \u2062other \u200dgreen subsidies, but the effort is yet to\u2062 deliver a reliable public charging experience\u200c for everyday Americans.\u200d Public charging stations are often broken and crowded, and when they do work, it can still <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/military-efficiency-bidens-electric-vehicle-push-adds-hours-to-routine-marine-trip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">take hours<\/a> to fully charge a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Still, those issues did not stop Granholm in May\u200d from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ENERGY\/status\/1662565362380972038?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advising<\/a> \u2064road-tripping Americans to purchase \u200can electric vehicle. Beyond\u200d the charging woes associated with the vehicles, that purchase is an expensive one\u2014Granholm&#8217;s June caravan \u200bof\u200c EVs\u2064 included a Ford F-150 Lightning and a\u200d Cadillac Lyriq, according\u2063 to NPR, \u200cboth of which can cost upwards of $60,000. As a result, less than one-fifth of Americans say they&#8217;re very likely to make their\u200b next vehicle an electric one, according \u200bto an <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/energy\/americans-arent-sold-on-electric-cars-biden-wants-to-force-automakers-to-sell-them-anyway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press poll<\/a> published in April.<\/p>\n<p>The Energy Department did not return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Granholm&#8217;s Georgia charging fiasco was not\u200d the only headache the Biden administration official\u200b experienced during her June \u2064trip, which \u200csaw her visit Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. Granholm&#8217;s pricey \u200dCadillac Lyriq \u200cdeveloped a \u200c&#8221;hardware issue&#8221; that made it difficult to charge,\u200b NPR reported. Granholm also encountered faulty chargers in\u200c Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s just \u200cpar for the course,&#8221; one electric vehicle \u200cdriver told NPR after waiting \u2063for Granholm to \u2064charge \u2063her \u2064fleet of vehicles in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>Granholm&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/not-so-easy-being-green-jennifer-granholm-encounters-charging-woes-angry-families-on-electric-vehicle-promotion-tour\/\" title=\"Jennifer Granholm faces challenges promoting electric vehicles: charging difficulties and upset families.\">botched electric vehicle promotion \u2064tour<\/a> did \u200dnot stop the former Michigan governor \u200bfrom praising the \u2063Biden administration&#8217;s green \u200dtransition. Just week&#8217;s after the tour&#8217;s \u2063conclusion, Granholm <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecGranholm\/status\/1679836141896323072?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Biden&#8217;s green\u2064 energy spending &#8220;is\u200d delivering clean energy savings, battery\u200d investments, EV charging infrastructure, and more.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, Biden&#8217;s green energy\u2063 push\u2064 will\u200c bring mandates, not just\u200b subsidies. The Democrat&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/complete-transformation-new-biden-rule-would-force-automakers-to-ditch-gas-sell-electric-vehicles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Environmental Protection\u200c Agency<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/energy\/biden-wages-war-on-americas-favorite-vehicles-trucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Highway Traffic Safety\u2063 Administration<\/a> have both proposed rules that would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/californias-homelessness-policy-is-a-disaster-biden-wants-to-replicate-it\/\" title=\"California's homelessness policy is a disaster, and Biden aims to copy it.\">effectively force automakers<\/a> to ensure \u200dthat two-thirds of the \u2063vehicles they\u200d sell are electric by\u200d 2032.
