Cotton questioned why the use of &#8220;himself&#8221; \u200cand &#8220;herself&#8221; \u200bis\u200b being abandoned in favor of \u200cthe term &#8220;themself&#8221; to \u200cdescribe heroic or distinguished actions by military personnel.<\/p>\n<p>The new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-tom-cotton-grills-pentagon-over-using-nonsense-word-themself-on-military-award-citations\/\" title=\"Sen. Tom Cotton questions Pentagon on use of 'themself' in military award citations.\">model language allegedly reads<\/a>, &#8220;(Rank) First M. Last, Jr., United States (Military\u2062 Service), distinguished <em>themself<\/em> by superior meritorious service in a position of significant \u2064responsibility as (position and duty assignment), from (month year) to (month year).&#8221; This change follows the Pentagon&#8217;s previous adoption of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-the-fight-against-critical-race-theory-has-only-just-begun\/\" title=\"GOP: The Fight Against Critical Race Theory Has Only Just Begun\">radical gender ideology<\/a>, as seen in the U.S. Navy&#8217;s training video on\u2063 &#8220;inclusive language&#8221;\u200b and &#8220;correct&#8221;\u200b pronouns.<\/p>\n<p>Cotton criticized\u2064 the Pentagon&#8217;s embrace of far-left gender ideology, stating, &#8220;Worse, it exemplifies a Pentagon leadership consumed by the fads of \u200dthe faculty lounge at a time when the Army can&#8217;t hit\u2062 its recruiting goals, \u200bthe Navy can&#8217;t keep ships out of dry dock,\u2062 and the Air Force can&#8217;t find\u200d spare parts for\u200c planes.&#8221; He \u2064demanded answers from Austin regarding the authorization of the language update and whether service members can request the use\u200c of their accurate male or female pronouns for awards or ceremonies.<\/p>\n<p>Cotton also requested \u200binformation on any other \u2064official documentation within the Pentagon that requires gender-neutral language.
