Michelle Lujan \u2063Grisham attempted to unilaterally suspend the Second Amendment rights of New Mexicans.\u200b This controversial move has sparked outrage and debate\u200c across the state.<\/p>\n<h3>Suspension of Concealed and Open-Carry<\/h3>\n<p>In a surprising executive\u2064 order, Governor Grisham announced a 30-day suspension\u2063 of concealed\u200b and open-carry in\u200c Bernalillo County, the \u200cmost\u2063 populated region in New\u200c Mexico. During \u2064the \u200ccoronavirus lockdowns, she infamously opened a jewelry store for personal shopping while &#8220;non-essential&#8221; businesses were\u2062 closed. This history of elite hypocrisy has only fueled the backlash against her latest order.<\/p>\n<p>Legal experts and politicians from\u200b both sides of the\u2062 aisle have raised concerns about\u200d the constitutionality of\u200b the governor&#8217;s actions. Ted Lieu and anti-Second Amendment activist David Hogg,\u2062 have criticized the governor&#8217;s order, emphasizing that no state can suspend \u2062the federal Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Legal Challenges and Calls for \u2064Impeachment<\/p>\n<p>The National Association for\u2064 Guns Rights \u200dwasted no time in filing a lawsuit against the state, arguing \u200bthat the &#8220;public health&#8221; order violates Americans&#8217;\u2064 constitutional rights.
