Lindsey Graham\u2062 (R-S.C.), \u2062former Sen. David\u200c Perdue (R-Ga.), former Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.), retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, and\u2062 others. They were \u200bultimately\u200d not charged by Ms. Willis&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n<p>Recalling \u2064her \u200binterview with the grand jury, Ms. Mitchell said that \u201cthey were definitely\u2063 going to recommend indicting basically all the Trump allies\u2014it was a \u200dcompletely political situation\u2014nothing to do\u200d with the law. Nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In\u200b her\u2064 interview, Ms. \u2063Mitchell made reference\u200c to\u200d a controversial interview with \u2064grand jury forewoman Emily Kohrs, noting that\u2063 her questioning \u200bwhy she took copies of an election-contest complaint with her.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAt some \u2063point, the chairwoman that you\u2019ve\u2063 seen on TV,\u201d she said, referring to Ms. Kohrs,\u200c &#8220;asked me what I had in my hands.&#8221; She \u200breplied, &#8220;I told her what\u2064 it\u2062 was, and she asked \u2064if she could \u2064see it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a while, she \u2064asked \u2018You\u2064 say here, in the memorandum \u2064of law, that\u200d you are asking the \u2064court\u2064 to award the electors to\u200b Donald Trump,\u2019\u201d Ms. \u200dMitchell\u2063 recalled.\u00a0\u201cI\u2063 looked at her with a puzzled look on \u200bmy face,\u201d she added to The Federalist.\u200b \u201cI \u200bsaid, \u2018Where do \u200cyou read that?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Explaining further, Ms. Mitchell \u2062said that Ms. Kohrs handed the paper back to her and the paragraph she had referenced to make her claim.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Former President Donald\u2063 Trump boards his private \u2064airplane, also known as Trump Force One, \u2064as \u200dhe departs Atlanta \u200cHartsfield-Jackson International Airport after being booked at the Fulton County jail in Atlanta, Ga., on\u200c Aug. 24, 2023. (Joe Raedle\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Nowhere in the memorandum of law does it say that the election should \u200bbe awarded to Trump,&#8221; Ms. Mitchell said, referring to the interchange.\u2062 &#8220;We argued that there is precedent under\u200d Georgia law \u200cfor the court to vacate\u2063 the \u200bresults \u2063and order a\u2062 new\u2062 election if\u200b we were able to establish that the evidence proved there\u200c were more illegal votes, cast in violation of state law but counted and included in the certified total, than \u2062the margin of \u2062difference between the two candidates\u2014the remedy is a new election.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Alternatively, we argued\u2063 that the state\u200c legislature has plenary power under \u200dthe U.S. Constitution\u200b to meet and determine the\u200b electors\u2014and I\u2062 told her that,&#8221; she said, claiming the forewoman made a claim\u200b of\u2063 something \u2064that is \u2062&#8221;simply \u2064not there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Also in\u2064 the\u200b interview, Ms. Mitchell said\u200d that she sat on the phone \u2064call between President Trump and Georgia Secretary of State \u2064Brad Raffensperger\u2064 shortly \u200dafter the 2020 election in which Mr. Raffensperger has publicly claimed made him \u200d&#8221;feel uncomfortable.&#8221; The secretary also alleged that he believed President Trump was trying to pressure him \u2063into invalidating what he described as legally cast votes; the\u200c former president has\u2064 denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey recommended indicting me for \u200dthe phone call,\u201d Ms. Mitchell told The Federalist, referring to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/full-georgia-trump-grand-jury-report-released-shows-recommendation-to-indict-3-us-senators\/\" title=\"Georgia Trump Grand Jury Report Released, Recommends Indicting 3 Senators.\">grand jury report released<\/a> last week. However, she\u200d contended the grand jury didn&#8217;t ask her &#8220;one question&#8221; about the call during her interview.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Other Details<\/h2>\n<p>In the report that was\u200d released last week recommending \u2062charges, the grand jury said\u200b that it did\u2064 not act at the \u2063behest of Ms. Willis&#8217; office.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>They wrote\u2063 that their findings to recommend charges came only from them, \u2064and\u200d they were not pressured\u200b by anyone, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/19-year-old-arrested-in-calif-for-double-murder\/\" title=\"19-year-old arrested in Calif. for double murder\">district attorney&#8217;<\/a>s \u2064office. Ms. Willis, \u200bthey \u200cadded, \u201chad \u200bnothing to do with\u2062 the recommendations contained herein,\u201d and\u200d the grand jury panel contained no legal experts or any defense lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe majority\u2064 of this grand jury used their\u2064 collective \u200bbest efforts, however, to attend every session, listen to every witness, and \u200cattempt \u2062to understand the \u2064facts as\u2063 presented \u200band\u200b the laws as explained,\u201d they\u200b wrote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote><p>Earlier this year,\u200c Ms. Kohrs gave several interviews to \u2063NBC News and CNN,\u2063 which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/emily-kohrs-interviews-georgia-trump-probe-grand-jury-member-criticism-2023-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drew<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2023\/02\/emily-kohrs-georgia-grand-jury-forewoman-donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criticism<\/a> from left-leaning\u200b media at the time and \u200bquestioned why she would be speaking to the media following the\u200c conclusion of the \u2064grand jury&#8217;s investigation.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;I w<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An election lawyer, Cleta Mitchell, called the grand jury questioning her a &#8220;completely political situation.&#8221; She stated that she realized it was an unpredictable situation and felt uncertain about it.
