The Patriot Act enabled\u2064 the government\u200c to weaponize its vast \u2064resources against its own people.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Bush\u2019s failed foreign policy led directly to Obama\u2019s presidency, and\u200c indirectly to\u200d Biden\u2019s, both \u2062of which are responsible for diminishing the U.S. at home and \u200dabroad, militarily \u2064and economically. After two\u200c failed\u2062 forever wars that \u2062wouldn\u2019t have\u200d happened without 9\/11, our government is now desperately trying to foment \u200da\u200c potentially nuclear forever war against Russia.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, all the \u2062massive\u200d surveillance powers claimed by the\u200c U.S. after 9\/11 are being\u200b ruthlessly deployed against \u2062American political enemies \u2062of the regime via the most \u2064insidious censorship-industrial complex the \u200bworld has ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>And then there\u2019s the crippling \u2063legacy\u2063 of debt enabled by America\u2019s response to 9\/11. Not content to spend\u200d trillions on poorly thought out invasions \u200cof Iraq and Afghanistan, \u200dour leaders spent \u200cas thoughtlessly\u2063 at home, creating \u2064insane amounts \u200dof new \u200centitlements,\u200d while doing nothing to \u2062put the\u2063 country\u2064 on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/retirees-could-see-17400-reduction-in-benefits-by-2033-analysis\/\" title=\"Retirees may face a ,400 benefit cut by 2033, says analysis.\">sound financial footing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And\u200c where are we today?\u200d The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-joe-biden-uses-orwellian-messaging-to-push-his-agenda\/\" title=\"How Joe Biden Uses Orwellian Messaging To Push His Agenda\">ruling political party<\/a> \u2064is criminalizing its opposition and attempting \u200dto throw its top political \u200bopponent and his supporters \u200cin prison, all under the guise of \u201cdemocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Impact of 9\/11 on America<\/h3>\n<p>While the national unity in the days after the towers \u200dfell \u200cwas unfortunately fleeting, \u200bthe changes to the country,\u200b its laws, and its\u2062 leaders were\u2062 not. Perhaps there\u2019s\u2063 no\u2063 better example\u2063 of this than watching the man who scoffed during a presidential debate at the notion of America engaging in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/was-9-11-the-beginning-of-the-end-of-the-american-empire\/\" title=\"Did 9\/11 Mark the Start of the American Empire's Decline?\">global \u201cnation-building\u201d suddenly declare<\/a> that it was America\u2019s mission to\u2062 spread \u200cdemocracy \u200cto the ends \u2063of the\u200b earth with the \u201cultimate goal of ending tyranny\u200c in our world.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It is clear that 9\/11 \u2064spawned the most\u2063 destructive foreign policy in \u2062modern American history. Instead of simply eliminating\u2062 the Taliban and the terrorist havens in Afghanistan \u2014 \u2064an objective that had largely been achieved by the end of 2001\u200c \u2014 the U.S. government insisted on grafting Western democracy onto the people \u2062of \u2063Afghanistan. Without 9\/11, there is no 20-year\u200c forever war in Afghanistan that ends with China in control of an American airbase and the Taliban in control of tens of billions of dollars of American military equipment\u2064 and weapons.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Without 9\/11, there is \u2062also no war in Iraq, which morphed from a \u2064mission to eliminate weapons of\u200c mass destruction to a war \u2062to bring democracy\u200c to a \u200chodgepodge\u200b of tribes, warring factions, and religious sects throughout the\u200c Middle East. Yes,\u2063 I\u200c know the official original\u200b rationale was that the war was launched \u2062entirely to capture weapons that we now know didn\u2019t\u200b exist,\u2064 but without 9\/11, there\u2019s no \u201caxis of evil\u201d speech\u2063 and resultant\u2063 march to war to \u200bdepose \u2063Saddam Hussein. In \u200chis 2003 \u2063State \u200cof the Union\u200d address on\u2064 the eve of\u200d the Iraq\u200b invasion, Bush himself explicitly\u2063 claimed that Hussein was \u2063personally working \u2063with al Qaeda, and warned that Hussein\u2063 might give al Qaeda weapons they could use \u2064to attack the\u2064 United States.<\/p>\n<p>While Bush and Republicans rode the wave\u200d of post-9\/11 sentiment to political victories\u200d in 2002 and 2004, the honeymoon \u2063was short-lived. By 2006, the country\u200d had largely soured \u2064on the\u2062 war in\u2063 Iraq amidst increasing casualties with little progress to show \u2064for them, paving the way\u200b for \u200bmassive\u200b Democrat gains\u2064 in Congress and a flip of\u200d both houses \u2062away from Republicans and into Democrat \u2063hands. \u200bAnd in the 2008 Democrat\u2062 political primaries, it was Barack Obama who rode the anti-war wave onto the presidential ballot by defeating Hillary Clinton,\u200c who had supported\u200b Bush\u2019s\u2062 efforts in\u2062 Iraq. A war-weary country that\u200d had soured on global military \u2062intervention \u200dat any\u200c cost overwhelmingly voted for the anti-war \u2064Obama over the\u200b pro-war John McCain.<\/p>\n<p>Without 9\/11, there is no\u200b war in Iraq, and without the war\u2063 in Iraq, \u2064there\u2019s \u200dlikely no\u200b President Biden, \u2062no President Trump (whose opposition to the war in\u2063 Iraq and America\u2019s hamfisted \u2062approach to foreign policy propelled\u200d him into the presidency), and certainly no President Biden.\u2063 When America \u200dwas caught in the quicksand of Iraq in 2008, Russian \u200cPresident Vladimir Putin annexed the country\u2063 of Georgia. \u2062When America revealed itself to be a paper tiger in Afghanistan after 20 years of \u200bfailed efforts to turn it into a beacon\u200c of \u2062Western \u200dliberalism, Putin seized Crimea.\u200c The seeds of each of those events\u200d were sowed on 9\/11.<\/p>\n<h3>The Surveillance State and \u2062Financial \u2064Consequences<\/h3>\n<p>Meanwhile, the \u200bBush administration\u2063 seized on the emergency created by \u20649\/11 to construct \u2062the largest surveillance state in world\u2062 history. Almost overnight, the Patriot\u2062 Act was \u200bpassed, \u200cthe Department of Homeland Security was\u200b created,\u2063 and warrantless wiretaps\u200c were \u200cauthorized,\u2062 and it didn\u2019t take long before each of those tools was weaponized against the American people. At the time,\u200b only a handful of\u200c people voted against those laws, and they were roundly \u200bmocked for \u2062their opposition (Rep. Barbara Lee \u2062was the\u200b sole vote in\u2064 the House against the Afghanistan\u2064 war, while\u2064 Sen. Russ Feingold was the\u200b lone vote against the Patriot Act\u2063 in\u200c the Senate). The U.S.\u2062 government ended up using tools that were\u200b intended to be used against foreign terrorists to instead spy on the political campaign of Donald\u2064 Trump. Tools that were \u200dsupposed to be used to monitor terrorist chatter overseas are right now being used to\u2062 justify censorship of American citizens.\u200d And all of it is being done based \u200don laws and institutions that \u200cwere created in\u2062 the wake of 9\/11.<\/p>\n<p>Finally,\u2064 at no\u2063 point did America\u2019s representatives in Washington\u2064 consider actually paying \u200cfor \u200cthe trillions \u2062and trillions of dollars that \u2062would be used\u2063 to prosecute their failed wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.\u2063 No, \u2064those costs were\u2063 financed by debt that will eventually\u2063 have to \u2062be repaid by the grandchildren of those \u200cwho authorized it. On\u2063 top of\u200b that, Congress and the president heaped new entitlement on top of new entitlement, year after year. After the\u200d growth of the national debt finally began to slow in the 1990s following the end of the Cold War, the \u200cnational debt nearly doubled during George W. Bush\u2019s \u2064presidency, doubled again during Obama\u2019s tenure, and\u200c will \u2063double \u200dagain between 2016 and 2026 \u2062according to Office\u2062 of \u200bManagement and Budget projections. A country \u2062with this kind of\u2064 debt growth is \u2062a country that is all \u200dbut \u2062begging for hyperinflation and currency devaluation. It\u2019s not a question of if, but when.<\/p>\n<p>In hindsight, America\u2019s \u200dresponse to 9\/11 crippled the \u200dcountry. \u200dIt birthed a disastrous foreign \u2063policy ideology that is still wreaking havoc on our own country, as well as the rest of\u200b the world. It\u2064 spawned a\u2063 surveillance state that threatens to rip\u200d the fabric of the\u200d country in two. It led to monstrous\u2062 debt\u2062 growth that will destroy\u200d the country financially from within if the trends\u2064 are not quickly reversed.<\/p>\n<p>We generally remember\u200b 9\/11\u2062 as the day that the\u2064 towers \u2062came down. \u2064I now worry that future\u200b historians \u2062will look back\u200b on it as\u2063 the day that America started to fall.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did 9\/11 mark America&#8217;s downfall?
