The United States has evolved, and \u200bso \u200bhave our enemies.<\/p>\n<p>When the \u200dmost significant terrorist attacks on U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/22-years-on-is-the-us-ready-for-a-next-big-attack\/\" title=\"Is the US prepared for another major attack after 22 years?\">soil\u200c occurred 22 years ago<\/a>, communications were\u2063 grounded \u200cto a \u200chalt. Cell towers\u200b were destroyed, and so \u2064were switching equipment for landline phones. Before\u2063 that, the United States considered protecting from invasions outside the border, \u200dsuch as a bomb or nuclear missile, said Antonio Graceffo, a China analyst \u2063and an Epoch \u2063Times contributor. Instead, 9\/11 revealed that lethal threats could be launched from within the country, he added.<br \/>\n \u2063\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<p>While new\u200b defense \u2062fronts might be \u2063opening on the grounds of cyberattacks, artificial intelligence,\u2062 and other \u200bmeans \u200bthat can\u200c \u201ccause general chaos \u2062and havoc in the United States,\u201d he said Russia\u2019s invasion \u2063of Ukraine\u2064 showed the world the danger of conventional warfare hasn\u2019t\u2063 subsided.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople always thought once we start having space wars, there won\u2019t \u200cbe Earth wars,\u201d Mr.\u200d Graceffo told The Epoch \u2064Times. \u201cWell, no, there\u2019s going to be both of them, and\u2062 we have to be prepared for both. And it\u2019s \u200cincredibly \u2064expensive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Immediately after 9\/11, the United States\u200d launched a \u201cglobal war on\u2063 terror,\u201d or GWOT, including two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. President Barack Obama officially retired the GWOT \u200cdesignation in May 2013. The Iraq \u200dwar ended in \u2063October 2011, and the U.S. military \u200bcompleted its withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021.<\/p>\n<p>While the United\u200d States focused on Islamic extremism,\u200c Russia recovered and China rose.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Graceffo said\u2063 that the United States was \u201cdistracted\u201d from a security perspective, adding that it has to monitor three tracks:\u2062 China and Russia, Islamic extremism, and Iran\u200c and North \u2063Korea.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>A man works at a construction site\u200b of a residential skyscraper in Shanghai on Nov. 29, 2016. Mr. Corr is also an Epoch Times contributor.\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s a common\u200d concern that, with China\u2019s economic slowdown, the CCP may resort to global geopolitical \u2062aggression to divert a domestic crisis \u200dand substitute prosperity \u200das the legitimacy\u200c of its ruling with nationalism.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">The structural\u200c problems of \u200dChina\u2019s \u200deconomy took center stage after a lackluster recovery since\u2064 Mr. Xi ended his\u2064 zero-COVID\u200c control\u200c on society in December. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/china\/analysis-china-is-heading-towards-a-decade-of-economic-stagnation-5459079\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Consumer confidence has tanked<\/a> as both growth\u2062 engines\u2014property and export sectors\u2014experience a severe slowdown.<\/div>\n<p>Foreign direct investment\u200d inflow is at a 26-year low at $4.9 billion in this year\u2019s second quarter versus the all-time\u200d high of $334 billion in 2021. The CCP\u2019s\u2064 raid \u200dof American due diligence firms doesn\u2019t help. In addition, a new Chinese anti-espionage law has alerted multinationals, leading to some companies, including Sequoia Capital, separating their China operations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">The lowered return on investment in\u200c China, coupled with much <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/janet-yellen-as-congress-for-billions-to-help-other-countries-debt-relief-climate-change-initiatives\/\" title=\"Janet Yellen As Congress For Billions To Help Other Countries\u2019 \u2018Debt Relief,\u2019 \u2018Climate Change\u2019 Initiatives\">higher interest rates<\/a> in the United \u2063States, has made the risk of dealing with the CCP while doing\u200d business in \u2064China increasingly unjustified, China economy expert Christopher Balding told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/china\/chinas-economic-perfect-storm-accelerates-decoupling-with-us-and-not-on-xis-terms-says-analyst-5478142\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Epoch Times<\/a> \u2064 previously.<\/div>\n<p>Since April, China has delivered lower-than-expected economic data consistently, and the \u2062CCP stopped\u2062 reporting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/luxury-sneakers-may-be-a-step-too-far-for-cash-strapped-gen-z\/\" title=\"Luxury sneakers may be a step too far for cash-strapped Gen Z\">youth unemployment rate<\/a> in August.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Xi has called for \u200c\u201cpatience from a historical perspective\u201d from \u2063the Chinese population. CCP officials urge China\u2019s youth, experiencing over 20 \u2062percent unemployment rate based on the last reported data, to \u201cseek \u2064out suffering\u201d or temper themselves through hardships. \u200cSuch requests may not\u200c sit well with Chinese households.<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s problem with the debt-fueled \u2063property sector and local governments has existed for at least a decade.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Yet the CCP didn\u2019t implement the Western advice \u2063of transitioning its growth to a consumption-led one because doing tha<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If 9\/11 were to recur, it would differ due to the evolution of the United States and our adversaries. 22 years ago, when major terrorist attacks struck the US, communication ceased as cell towers and landline switching equipment were demolished.
