The report confirms Mitchell\u2019s intuition: The grand jury recommended District Attorney Fani\u200d Willis charge a total of 39 people \u2014 \u201cbasically all the Trump allies\u201d \u2014 not merely\u200d the \u200c19 \u200dindividuals\u200c the get-Trump prosecutor eventually indicted. The large number includes Sen. Lindsey Graham and former Republican Sens. David Perdue and\u2062 Kelly Loeffler, both of Georgia.\u00a0Like Graham, Perdue, and Loeffler, Mitchell was recommended for charges but not named in the sprawling RICO indictment handed down last month.<\/p>\n<p>Now that\u200c the report is \u201call out in the open,\u201d Mitchell is sharing some details of her experience, and they reveal just how unhinged from \u2062reality \u200dthe special purpose\u200d grand jury\u2063 was \u2014\u2064 or at least \u2063its forewoman, Emily <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/politics-new-york-city-only-on-ap-donald-trump-georgia-266e28c4e47e54731b233e0f770f6729\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kohrs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell explained to The \u200cFederalist that when testifying, she had taken with her copies of the \u200belection-contest complaint and the memorandum of law filed with the court in support of that complaint. \u201cAt some point, the chairwoman that you\u2019ve seen on TV,\u201d a reference to Kohrs who had made the media rounds\u2062 shortly after the <a title=\"Fulton County Grand Jury Exposed as Unhinged, Says Election Lawyer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fulton-county-grand-jury-was-totally-unhinged-reveals-election-lawyer\/\">special purpose grand jury disbanded<\/a>, \u201casked me what I had in my hands,\u201d Mitchell explained. \u200d\u201cI told her what it was, and she asked\u200b if she \u200bcould see it,\u201d Mitchell continued, \u200btelling The Federalist \u200dshe gave \u200bKohrs both.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a while, she asked \u2018You say here, in the memorandum of law, that you are asking the court to award the electors to Donald Trump.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-38f0929ef1ce0be28b75241d4e44986e\" class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-38f0929ef1ce0be28b75241d4e44986e fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI looked at her with a puzzled look on my face,\u201d Mitchell told The Federalist. \u201cI said, \u2018Where do you read that?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kohrs then handed the court document \u200bback to Mitchell, and the \u200belection lawyer looked \u2063at the paragraph she referenced.\u00a0As Mitchell explained to The Federalist:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><strong>Nowhere in the memorandum of law does it say that the election should be awarded to Trump. We argued that there is precedent under Georgia law for the court\u2064 to vacate the \u200dresults and\u2063 order a new election IF we were able to establish that the evidence proved\u2062 there were more illegal votes, cast in violation of state law but counted and included in the certified total, than\u2062 the margin of difference between the two candidates \u2014\u2064 the remedy is a new election.\u00a0Alternatively, we argued that the state\u200c legislature has plenary power under the U.S. Constitution to meet and determine \u2063the electors \u2014 and I \u2062told her that.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In other words, the grand jury\u2019s forewoman read \u201cthe memorandum of\u2064 law to say\u200b something that is simply not there.\u201d No wonder, then, that\u2063 they recommended indicting 39 individuals!<\/p>\n<p>While\u2064 Mitchell \u200bhad an opportunity to \u2063at least try to correct the misunderstanding about the legal documents, when it came to the Jan. 2,\u200b 2021, call between Trump and Secretary \u200dof State Brad Raffensperger, in which Mitchell participated, she had no such opportunity.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9d63d448f3091e212195455689beaba3\" class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9d63d448f3091e212195455689beaba3 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThey recommended indicting me for the\u200b phone call,\u201d Mitchell noted, in reference to the 25-page grand jury report that pushed the Fulton County prosecutor to charge Mitchell for a variety of crimes related to that phone conversation. \u201cBut they did not ask me ONE question about the phone call.\u00a0Not one,\u201d Mitchell told The Federalist, adding that she testified for several hours, but\u200d the lawyers mainly pushed\u200d her on what they saw as \u201cdeficiencies\u201d in the election contest.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutors also \u2063asked Mitchell questions such as, \u201cWhy did you dismiss the suit?\u201d \u2063<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was moot after the Georgia electors were certified on Jan. 6,\u201d Mitchell would explain. But the Fulton County prosecutor\u2019s team \u2064also\u200c questioned her on other aspects of the lawsuit such as \u2064why they didn\u2019t \u201chave well-known academics as our <a title=\"\u2018Green Infrastructure\u2019 Backers Stand to Profit From Gov\u2019t Spending Boost\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/green-infrastructure-backers-stand-to-profit-from-govt-spending-boost\/\">expert witnesses<\/a>,\u201d or why they didn\u2019t seek to enforce a\u200c settlement agreement when the secretary of state\u2019s attorneys failed to provide data they had promised.<\/p>\n<p>These questions further cement the reality that what Democrats are trying to do is criminalize election\u2064 challenges brought by Republicans. And while Mitchell was not \u200bcharged, other lawyers were and so were the alternative slate of electors appointed to preserve Trump\u2019s Georgia election challenge \u2014 even though legal precedent\u200c made <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/15\/the-lefts-2020-fake-electors-narrative-is-fake-news\/\">clear<\/a> the propriety of appointing alternative electors.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell\u2019s recounting of the\u2062 special purpose grand jury circus should terrify\u2062 all Americans concerned with election integrity \u2062\u2014 and should wake \u200bup the\u2062 country to just\u200d how political the pending charges against the 19 indicted individuals are.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-aba659d1e075dd83254f66e71785cacf\" class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-aba659d1e075dd83254f66e71785cacf fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Attorney Cleta Mitchell described her hours-long questioning before the Fulton County grand jury as surreal.
