Scott\u2019s commitment to his child despite the\u200d immense obstacles is emblematic of the parental empowerment movement that started \u200cin Virginia,\u201d said Youngkin. \u201c\u2026 I am pleased to grant Scott Smith this pardon and \u200chelp him and his family\u200d put \u200bthis \u2062injustice behind them once and for\u200d all.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In\u2064 May 2021, a 14-year-old student \u200cat Stone Bridge High School had sexually abused a\u200b female student.<\/p>\n<p>After he transferred to Broad Run High\u2063 School, the 14-year-old sexually attacked another female \u2063student just 5 \u200dmonths later. <\/p>\n<p>He was later found guilty of forcibly \u2062touching \u2063another classmate at a nearby school where the perpetrator was permitted to attend classes while awaiting trial \u2063in juvenile court. Word circulated around that \u200dthe student, who \u2062was born male, was wearing a skirt during the first assault.<\/p>\n<p>At the Loudoun \u200cCounty\u2062 School \u2062Board meeting\u200c in August \u200b2021,\u200c Smith was speaking out about his daughter\u2019s assault \u200dand the circumstances surrounding it when he was arrested for\u2064 alleged\u200b \u201cdisruptive behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith reportedly threatened deputies who hauled him away from a Loudoun County\u2062 School\u200d Board meeting over the student\u2019s \u201cstate-mandated transgender rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to\u2062 reports, he yelled loudly, clenched his fist, and swore at a woman while seeking more information about his daughter\u2019s assault.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" data-placeholder-image=\"https:\/\/c3.oann.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/complianz-gdpr\/assets\/images\/placeholders\/twitter-minimal.jpg\" class=\"cmplz-placeholder-element twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">JUST IN: Loudoun\u200c County dad Scott Smith who was DRAGGED \u200dOUT out of school board meeting\u200c after revealing his daughter\u2063 was assaulted by a\u2063 boy in a girls bathroom RECEIVES PARDON  from Gov. Glenn Youngkin.. <\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gNoY6pFotW\">pic.twitter.com\/gNoY6pFotW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chuck Callesto (@ChuckCallesto) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChuckCallesto\/status\/1700883918126211128?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 10,\u2064 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script type=\"text\/plain\" data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" async data-cmplz-src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The Virginia Department of \u200dEducation\u200c posted model policies last fall stating \u2064that students\u2019 use of toilet and locker facilities\u2064 should\u200d be based on biological sex and that children must be referred\u200d to by their name and pronouns in their official records unless\u200d a parent allows \u200dotherwise. <\/p>\n<p>Smith, along with \u200dhis attorneys,\u200c Bill Stanley and Mike\u200c Joynes, issued statements in response to Youngkin\u2019s pardon.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWhat\u200d happened to my daughter was a horrible, but preventable tragedy that she will have to deal with \u200bfor\u200d the rest of \u200dher life.\u202f\u202f And\u202fthe \u2064way the public school system, the School Board, the Loudoun\u2063 County Sheriff\u2019s Office and SRO Department, and the Commonwealth Attorney\u2019s Office\u200b handled this \u2064situation was abhorrent and completely unacceptable,\u202f\u201d Smith said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank\u2064 Governor Youngkin for his declaration that I am innocent, and \u200dfor his absolute and unconditional pardon.\u202fWhile I was extremely\u2064 confident in my lawyers\u2019 abilities to defend\u2064 me in court,\u2063 I \u2063am grateful\u200c that the Governor recognizes that our justice system \u2064has\u200d been both weaponized and politicized to the point where my ability to receive\u2063 a fair trial was in jeopardy.
