It&#8217;ll focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nickel-price-surge-threatens-automakers-electric-vehicle-plans\/\" title=\"Nickel Price Surge Threatens Automakers\u2019 Electric Vehicle Plans\">lithium-ion battery cells<\/a>, battery packs, and energy storage systems integration.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois Gov. J.B. The company will be eligible for tax benefits totaling $213\u2063 million over 30 years and also \u2062get $125 million in capital\u2063 funding from the state&#8217;s Reimagining Energy and Vehicles incentive package.<\/p>\n<p>Local authorities\u200c also approved a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/two-st-louis-dems-plead-guilty-in-bribery-scheme\/\" title=\"Two St. Louis Dems Plead Guilty in Bribery Scheme\">property tax abatement<\/a> for 30 years for Gotion. Once completed, \u2062the facility is expected to produce 10\u200c GWh of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chinese-ev-battery-maker-gotion-to-build-2-billion-gigafactory-in-illinois\/\" title=\"Chinese EV battery manufacturer Gotion plans to construct a  billion Gigafactory in Illinois.\">lithium-ion battery packs<\/a>\u2064 and 40 GWh of lithium-ion battery cells.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>\u201cAll\u200c that we see here are of enormous value to us: an enabling \u2064business environment, a supportive state government for the new energy industry and their highly efficient work, as well as the prospects of the State of Illinois \u2064in the coming years,\u201d Gotion Chairman Li Zhen\u200c said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.illinois.gov\/news\/press-release.26993.html?ref=upstract.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>&#8220;When we come to \u200dIllinois, we \u2062are not building a new factory but are planning to reuse an \u2063existing one and bring it back to life again\u2063 as our way of cherishing\u200d and conserving resources.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Gotion Unit\u200c Plans\u2062 Factory in Michigan<\/h2>\n<p>Gotion \u2062Inc.\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/article\/chinese-company-behind-michigan-ev-battery-plant-registers-as-foreign-entity-5478328\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> last month that it was building a $2.36 billion EV battery factory in Michigan,\u2063 near Big Rapids in Mecosta County.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Gotion Inc. secured \u200d$1 billion \u2064in\u2064 U.S. taxpayer support\u2062 for \u2062the Michigan facility at an\u200c overall cost of $2.4 billion, according to reports. Concerns about the deal \u200bhave been\u200d raised by\u200b Michigan\u200c residents, Republicans, and environmental groups.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>It then came to light that Gotion \u2064had quietly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/article\/chinese-company-behind-michigan-ev-battery-plant-registers-as-foreign-entity-5478328\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">registered as a foreign \u2062entity<\/a>, according to its \u2063registration document submitted\u200b to the U.S. Department\u2064 of \u2064Justice.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The document states that Fremont,\u200c California-based Gotion is \u201cwholly owned and \u200ccontrolled\u201d \u200cby Gotion High-Tech, a Chinese company based near Hefei, China.<\/p>\n<p>The document also\u200c asks the registrant to state if \u201cthis foreign\u2062 principal,\u201d meaning\u2062 the U.S. company Gotion is\u200b either \u201csupervised,\u201d \u200d\u201cdirected,\u201d or\u200c \u201cfinanced\u201d by \u201ca foreign government,\u2063 foreign political party, or other foreign principal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gotion\u2019s answer to this was &#8220;no,&#8221; even as \u200cthe company is &#8220;completely controlled&#8221; by China-based Gotion High-Tech.<\/p>\n<p>The document also asks if the \u201cforeign principal,\u201d or \u200bGotion Inc., will engage in \u201cpolitical activities.\u201d Gotion\u2019s answer to \u2063this was &#8220;yes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Chuck Thelen, Gotion&#8217;s North American manufacturing \u200dvice\u2064 president, has dismissed those concerns\u200c and said \u200dthat Goti<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chinese battery maker Gotion High-Tech will construct a cutting-edge $2 billion EV lithium battery plant in Manteno, Illinois.
