All have pleaded \u2064not\u2063 guilty, while some have attempted to\u200c move their cases\u200c to a federal court.<\/p>\n<p>The district attorney&#8217;s office alleged that President \u200bTrump\u200b and individuals including former \u200cMayor Rudy Giuliani, \u200bformer White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, prominent attorney Sidney \u200cPowell, former\u200d campaign lawyer Jena Ellis, and more conspired to overturn the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>Several other defendants have also asked to be tried separately or\u200d in small groups, and President Trump, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-increasingly-unlikely-to-call-themselves-progressives-ahead-of-midterms\/\" title=\"Democrats Increasingly Unlikely to Call Themselves \u201cProgressives\u201d Ahead of Midterms\">early front-runner<\/a> in\u200d the 2024 Republican presidential primary, has asked to be tried\u2064 apart\u2062 from anyone who files a speedy trial demand.<\/p>\n<p>Several days\u200b before Mr. Labat&#8217;s comments, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott \u200bMcAfee said \u200dthe trial for\u200b Mrs. Powell\u2063 and attorney Kenneth Chesebro would begin\u2063 Oct. 23. But the legal maneuvering that has begun in the three weeks since the indictment was returned underscores\u2064 the logistical complexity inherent in such a sprawling indictment with so many defendants.<\/p>\n<p>But Mr. McAfee\u200b raised concerns about what that fight by some defendants to have \u2063their cases moved to federal court could mean for the\u2062 rest of the \u200bcase, saying appeals and final decisions on that issue could take \u200cmonths.<\/p>\n<p>On Sept. 8,\u2064 a judge denied Mr. Meadows&#8217; bid to move his Georgia case to a federal \u2063court,\u200b claiming that his involvement in the alleged 2020\u200b efforts \u200bin Georgia wasn&#8217;t\u200c part of his\u2064 official duties as a White House official.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Steve C. \u2063Jones, in his ruling (<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.gand.319225\/gov.uscourts.gand.319225.69.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>), found that Mr. Meadows &#8220;has \u200dnot shown that the actions that triggered the State\u2019s \u200cprosecution related to \u200bhis federal office,&#8221; adding that his &#8220;alleged association with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/clarence-thomas-no-longer-listed-as-faculty-at-law-school-wont-teach-this-fall-reports\/\" title=\"Clarence Thomas No Longer Listed As Faculty At Law School, Won\u2019t Teach This Fall: Reports\">post-election activities<\/a> was not related to his role as \u200dWhite House Chief of Staff or\u200c his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mark-meadows-sues-nancy-pelosi-and-every-member-of-january-6-committee-unconstitutional\/\" title=\"Mark Meadows Sues Nancy Pelosi and Every Member of January 6 Committee: 'Unconstitutional'\">executive branch authority<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;In light of the State\u2019s evidence that Meadows \u2062undertook actions on behalf of the\u200c campaign during the \u200dtime period of the\u2064 alleged conspiracy, Meadows was required\u200d to come forward with \u2064competent proof of\u2062 his factual contention that \u2062his actions involving challenges to the outcome \u2064of\u2062 the\u200d Georgia\u2019s Presidential election results were \u200dwithin \u2063his role\u200d as Chief of\u200b Staff. His efforts fall short,\u201d \u200cthe judge also wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Around the same time, a \u2064judge\u200c released the full \u2063Fulton County \u2063grand jury report, which in February recommended that\u2062 Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), retired Lt. Gen Michael Flynn, former Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.), and former Sen.
