Karl referred to \u2063a recent study suggesting that masks \u200bwere not effective in containing the pandemic. \u200cFauci acknowledged that some studies can be confusing and mentioned an \u200canalysis by The \u200dCochrane Institute that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-earned-praise-from-anti-vaccine-extremists\/\" title=\"Newsom Earned Praise from Anti-Vaccine Extremists\">raised doubts<\/a> about the effectiveness of masks in stopping the spread of \u200crespiratory viruses like COVID.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-weight-loss-device-sparks-internet-backlash\/\" title=\"New Weight Loss Device Sparks Internet Backlash\">study led<\/a> to headlines claiming that masks made little to \u2063no difference \u2062in preventing COVID transmission.
