Sues\u200c California Over Censorship \u200bLaw<\/h2>\n<p>X Corp., owned by the renowned Elon Musk, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/n-m-widower-sues-alburquerque-over-sanctuary-city-policy\/\" title=\"N.M. widower sues Alburquerque over sanctuary city policy\">taking legal action<\/a> against California over a law that it believes amounts to censorship. The company&#8217;s \u2063General Government Affairs unit posted \u200don X, stating, &#8220;Today, @X filed a First Amendment \u2064lawsuit against California AB 587. The true intent of AB 587 is to pressure social media\u2063 platforms to &#8216;eliminate&#8217; certain constitutionally-protected content viewed by the State as problematic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/X?\">@X<\/a> filed a First Amendment\u2064 lawsuit against California AB 587. They must also report to the state on the actions taken to implement those policies, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/4195131-musks-x-sues-california-over-content-moderation-law-claiming-it-violates-free-speech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.caed.433955\/gov.uscourts.caed.433955.1.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> argues that AB\u2064 587 is an attempt to silence speech \u200bthat California leaders disagree with. It states, &#8220;AB 587 violates the First Amendment of the United States\u2064 Constitution and Article\u2064 16 I, Section \u20642, of \u200dthe California Constitution. It states, \u200b&#8221;The legislative record\u2062 is crystal clear that one of the main purposes \u200bof AB 587 is to pressure social\u2064 media companies to eliminate or minimize content that \u2063the\u200c government has deemed objectionable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>California is \u2063accused of trying to \u2063control social \u200bmedia companies like puppets. The lawsuit asserts, &#8220;[T]hrough AB 587,\u2063 the State is compelling social media \u200ccompanies to\u200b take public positions on controversial and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-reserve-directed-employees-to-scrap-founding-fathers-and-other-biased-terms\/\" title=\"Federal Reserve Directed Employees To Scrap \u2018Founding Fathers\u2019 And Other \u2018Biased Terms\u2019\">politically-charged issues<\/a>. X Corp. is being forced to adopt the State&#8217;s politically-charged terms, which is a form of compelled speech in and of itself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit highlights\u2064 that\u2063 the\u200c issues California wants \u2063X Corp. to\u200c define are not universally \u2063agreed upon. For instance, intentionally misgendering someone is \u2063considered \u2063hate speech by some.
