Gun-Grabbing Leftists Are Suddenly Acting Like They&#8217;re Pro-Constitution<\/h2>\n<p>To get this out of the way: This writer \u200chas no earthly\u200c clue what this actually\u200b means.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s\u200c so jarring to see, it clearly means <em>something<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve spent any time online or around state politics, you\u2019ve surely\u2063 heard about the grossly unconstitutional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-mexico-governor-floats-arrest-conceal-carry-holders-power-hungry-emergency-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">power and gun grab<\/a> by\u200d New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat.<\/p>\n<p>In a series \u2062of moves over\u200d Thursday and Friday, Grisham basically gave herself the power\u200b to (attempt to) suspend the Constitutional rights\u200d of her citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Namely, Grisham took some\u200b drastic steps towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/women-gun-owners-respond-bidens-massive-gun-grab-joe-come-take\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disarming Americans<\/a>, by arbitrarily declaring a\u2062 \u201chealth emergency\u201d so \u2063she can infringe on the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday I issued\u2062 a 30-day ban on the open &#038;\u200b concealed carrying of guns in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County,\u201d Grisham wrote in a Friday <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovMLG\/status\/1700304261383405883\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media post<\/a>. \u201cGun violence is killing between 2 and 3 children\u2062 every month in NM\u2063 \u2013 every single one of these deaths\u200d is\u200d unconscionable and they must stop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Look,\u200d even if\u200d you don\u2019t know anything\u2064 about New Mexico or constitutional law, deep down in your bones, you would still know that there is something seriously wrong with an\u200c elected official deciding\u200b she can unilaterally supersede the Constitution of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Any sane-minded person can \u2062see that those \u201crights\u201d that Americans are <em>supposed <\/em>to have guaranteed by the Constitution aren\u2019t exactly \u201crights\u201d if an elected official can \u200dwantonly determine their validity. Some of the \u200dmost vocal, crazed \u200cleftists out there are not fans of Grisham\u2019s move \u2014 and it raises the question of \u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Two\u200c of the\u200b most anti-Constitution gun\u2062 grabbers in the nation, California Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ted-lieu-voices-support-abortion-divorce-sex-marriage-daring-catholic-church-deny-communion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ted Lieu<\/a> and anti-gun activist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/david-hogg-leaves-orders-killed-body-dumped-nra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Hogg<\/a>, took to\u200c X, formerly known as Twitter, to denounce Grisham\u2019s unconstitutional move\u2063 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/erickson-the-real-truth-of-jan-6\/\" title=\"ERICKSON: The Real Truth Of Jan. 6\">eerily similar language<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I support\u200d gun \u2062safety laws. There is \u200cno such thing as a state public \u2064health \u2062emergency\u2063 exception to the \u200dU.S. Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hogg, quote-posting \u200dthe same exact CNN article, wrote: \u201cI support gun safety but there is no such thing \u200cas a state public health emergency exception to\u200d the U.S. Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If the weirdly similar language \u2064wasn\u2019t a red \u2063flag, surely the fact that Hogg and Lieu \u200bare speaking out against this gun \u2064grab is.<\/p>\n<p>Because a cynic might suggest that there\u2019s a secret reason these aggressively anti-Constitution advocates (make no mistake, if\u200c Hogg and Lieu\u2064 could take all your guns, they \u200cwould) are suddenly touting the importance of constitutionalism.<\/p>\n<p>This writer posits two theories:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Democrats have some\u2063 genuinely\u2062 terrifying (for them)\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-polling-27-higher-biden-among-independents-according-new-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polling data<\/a> regarding 2024 \u2062and beyond. They see that their far-left policies are forcefully \u200bturning the tide against their side, and are trying to mitigate that damage with lip service.<\/li>\n<li>Gov. Grisham\u200c is splintering off to spearhead an even more far-left wing of the Democrat \u200bparty, and the old far-left stalwarts are\u200b calling her \u200bout on it (think of\u200c how many\u2063 modern moderates have been vilified \u200cby the left\u2063 as it kept moving further in that direction. Same idea.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Both of those theories paint a grim \u2064picture for many Americans.<\/p>\n<p>If a new far-far-left is\u2064 rising to prominence, that\u2019s a \u200dhorrific thought for any Americans who want to avoid experiencing communism \u200bin their lifetimes.<\/p>\n<p>But even \u200bif there isn\u2019t a new left-wing rising, a desperate \u2062Democrat party could easily introduce some drastic anomalies \u2014 like \u200bnominating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/joe-biden-will-replaced-2024-know-will-take-place-author\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michelle \u200dObama<\/a> to\u200d replace\u2062 the incumbent president \u2014 to the equation.<\/p>\n<p>That doesn\u2019t bode well for\u2064 anyone\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n<p>Just look at what\u2019s \u2063happening in \u2064New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>The post \u2062 <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/going-gun-grabbing-leftists-suddenly-acting-like-pro-constitution\/\">What&#8217;s Going On?
