The arrest occurred after the superintendent lied about the father&#8217;s daughter being raped by a boy wearing a skirt.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The pardon states that in\u200b June 2021, Scott Smith exercised his constitutional \u2063right to attend a public meeting of the Loudoun County School Board. During the meeting, a community \u2063member threatened to spread false and malicious \u200cinformation about Mr. Smith&#8217;s business with\u200d the intent to damage\u2062 his reputation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The pardon\u2064 continues, explaining that after a verbal confrontation, Scott Thomas Smith was charged with Obstruction of Justice and Disorderly Conduct. Despite an appeals court later disqualifying the prosecutor due to concerns about the integrity of the prosecution, Smith was \u200cquickly convicted.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.virginia.gov\/media\/governorvirginiagov\/governor-of-virginia\/pdf\/Scott-Thomas-Smith---Pardon.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WHEREAS<\/a> Scott \u2063Thomas Smith has been publicly and falsely accused of \u2062&#8217;domestic terrorism&#8217; and &#8216;hate crimes&#8217; for attempting to advocate for\u2062 his daughter, a victim of sexual assault&#8230; I have decided it is just and\u200d appropriate to grant this ABSOLUTE PARDON that reflects Scott Thomas\u200b Smith&#8217;s factual innocence,&#8221; it \u200cconcludes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Smith&#8217;s story resonated with parents \u200dwho were concerned about student safety and academic\u200d rigor being compromised for ideological reasons. Youngkin&#8217;s commitment to being a voice for these parents played a significant role in his election as governor, which occurred just\u2063 a \u2064month after The Daily Wire brought attention to Smith&#8217;s story.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Democrat prosecutor Buta Biberaj, who \u200bis known for her lenient stance on crime, personally \u200bargued for Smith&#8217;s imprisonment on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/5-people-have-pleaded-not-guilty-to-alabama-riverfront-brawl-charges\/\" title=\"5 individuals have denied their guilt in relation to charges stemming from a brawl at the Alabama riverfront.\">misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges<\/a>. Smith was denied a jury trial due to the nature \u200cof the offense, and a \u2064judge swiftly convicted him.<\/p>\n<p>Smith appealed the ruling, which would have entitled him to\u2063 a \u2062jury trial in \u2062appeals court. However, the legal process dragged on for years, taking a toll on Smith both\u200c financially and emotionally. \u2063He expressed gratitude towards Youngkin for allowing \u2063him to move forward.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m thankful that the\u200b Youngkin administration gave me an off-ramp to these charges that never should have happened,&#8221; Smith told The Daily Wire. &#8220;It&#8217;s kind of bittersweet \u2063because I really looked forward to winning this in court. \u200dBut unfortunately, our justice system is so screwed up right now that I didn&#8217;t feel that I could potentially get a fair shot in court.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Smith emphasized the concerning state of the justice system,\u200d stating,\u200d &#8220;That&#8217;s what should scare every American \u2013 that I had to take\u2064 this because I could not \u200dtrust our\u200c justice system.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During \u2064Smith&#8217;s legal battle, the same system that prosecuted him \u2064acquitted Loudoun County\u2063 Public Schools spokesman \u2062Wayde Byard of perjury charges. Byard had falsely blamed \u200dSmith for police presence and claimed \u200dthat no students were \u2063in danger, even though the rapist was still at large.<\/p>\n<p>Although the rapist was eventually\u200c convicted in juvenile\u2062 court, a mistake by Biberaj prevented him \u2064from being placed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-virginia-ag-jason-miyares-launches-investigations-into-public-schools-parole-board\/\" title=\"New Virginia AG Jason Miyares Launches Investigations into Public Schools, Parole Board\">sex offenders registry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Smith revealed \u2064that on the night of the June 2021 school board meeting, where transgender restroom policies were being discussed, his daughter had planned to \u200dspeak out about her recent rape\u200b by a boy wearing a skirt. He\u200b explained that Jackie Schworm, a \u2064radical leftist, \u2064had threatened\u2064 his daughter and subsequently confronted him, intending to ruin\u200b his business \u200bthrough \u2064social media. A struggle ensued when a police officer intervened.<\/p>\n<p>An\u200c appeals court acknowledged the potential bias of the prosecutor but deemed Smith&#8217;s use of profanity towards Schworm as \u200bgrounds for a retrial. Smith\u200d believed that even if his appeal had succeeded, the damage had already been\u2063 done by &#8220;radical prosecutors&#8221;\u2063 who put him through a lengthy and arduous process.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The damage has already been done,&#8221;\u200d Smith said. &#8220;This process has been absolutely brutal because it took away some of my family treasure that [could have gone to] my daughter&#8217;s situation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The media widely circulated a\u2064 photo of Smith being dragged away by police, using him as a symbol of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/glenn-youngkin-grants-absolute-pardon-to-loudoun-dad-arrested-at-school-board-meeting\/\" title=\"Glenn Youngkin pardons Loudoun dad arrested at school board meeting.\">angry conservative parents supposedly \u200ddisrupting school board meetings<\/a> out of bigotry and \u200cignorance. The National School Boards Association even \u2064likened him to\u200c a domestic terrorist in a letter\u2063 that the\u2063 Biden administration used to mobilize anti-terrorism forces against parents.<\/p>\n<p>Amidst this controversy, only The Daily Wire took the time to investigate Smith&#8217;s grievances against \u2063the\u200d school board. It was revealed that not only had his\u200b daughter been raped and the superintendent lied about\u200d it, but the \u2064school system also allowed the rapist to remain in school, where he assaulted another girl.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They villainized me and my family from the\u200b minute my daughter reported that she\u200b was sexually assaulted, pretty much until present time,&#8221; Smith stated.<\/p>\n<p>Smith believes \u200bthat Biberaj aimed to make an example out of him to \u2062discourage others\u2064 from speaking out. Unfortunately, it \u2062seems to\u2064 have worked, as fewer parents have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wednesday-october-6th-2021\/\" title=\"Wednesday | October 6th, 2021\">attended school board meetings<\/a> and voiced their concerns since his arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Smith plans to take\u200c legal action against the prosecutor for misconduct and potentially\u2064 against the National School Boards Association \u200bas \u2064well.<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin&#8217;s pardon aligns with \u2063his campaign promise\u200d to prioritize parental rights in education. On Tuesday, he will host a &#8220;Parents\u200c Matter&#8221; conversation\u2062 in \u200dLoudoun at Cornerstone Chapel, a church that was targeted by a group of liberal activists known\u200d as the Loudoun Love Warriors.<\/p>\n<p>The pastor of the \u200cchurch remarked on the irony of those who claim to advocate\u200b for tolerance being intolerant towards those with differing \u200cviews and values.<\/p>\n<p>One member of the Love Warriors was recently arrested on felony \u200dcharges.
