min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The meeting, which is\u200c still \u2062being arranged, would confirm U.S. plans\u200d to boost Vietnam\u2019s global role in different segments of chipmaking, as part of Washington\u2019s broader strategy\u2064 to reduce the sector\u2019s exposure to China-linked risks, \u2064including\u2062 trade\u2063 restrictions and tensions over Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p>Senior \u2062executives \u2063from \u200dGoogle, Intel, \u200dAmkor, Marvell, GlobalFoundries\u200b and Boeing are among expected attendees,\u2062 according to a partial list that a person familiar with the plans discussed with Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>The companies did\u200b not immediately \u200brespond \u200dto requests for\u200d comment outside business hours.<\/p>\n<p>The second person familiar with the plans \u200dconfirmed the presence\u200d of several large U.S. chips companies,\u200d including Amkor, their Vietnamese partners, such as tech company FPT, and Vietnamese and U.S. \u2064top officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken.<\/p>\n<p>Semiconductors are expected to be \u200da focal point during Biden\u2019s visit to Hanoi \u2064on Sunday and Monday, U.S.\u200c administration officials \u2063said, as the White \u2063House seeks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-top-us-chipmakers-tech-firms-to-attend-vietnam-meeting-as-biden-visits\/\" title=\"Top US chipmakers and tech firms to attend Vietnam meeting during Biden's visit.\">formally\u200d elevate \u2062relations<\/a>\u2063 with the former \u2064foe.<\/p>\n<p>The roundtable \u2063has\u200d not been announced, and it is unclear whether announcements will be made by any of the companies attending\u200d the meeting, which one \u200cof \u200cthe sources said would involve\u200b about 30 top executives and officials.<\/p>\n<p>Some of those on \u2064the list \u200bhave already invested or announced investments in Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>Intel has a $1.5\u2063 billion factory in southern Vietnam for\u200d assembling, packaging and testing \u200bchips, the biggest \u200din its global network,\u2064 and has had plans to expand it.<\/p>\n<p>Amkor is building near Hanoi \u201ca state-of-the-art mega factory for\u200c semiconductor assembly and testing,\u201d Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on a visit to Hanoi in July. The\u2062 company has dozens of open positions on its Vietnam \u200dweb page.<\/p>\n<p>Chip designing firm Marvell has said it \u2063plans to build a \u201cworld-class\u201d centre in Vietnam. <\/p>\n<p>U.S.\u200d officials have repeatedly said\u200d that assembling and designing were the segments of the chipmaking industry where \u200cVietnam was likely to grow faster, although a shortage of engineers could slow the industry take-off.<\/p>\n<p>Vietnam has also \u200cambitions to build its \u2064own chipmaking factories, or\u2063 fabs. GlobalFoundries is specialised in making integrated circuits on wafers \u2062for smartphones, cars and other\u200d applications.<\/p>\n<p>Vietnam is a major exporter of smartphones and electronics.<\/p>\n<p>An executive at a\u2063 major U.S. chips\u2063 firm said \u2063the Vietnamese government had been holding meetings \u200dwith most \u200dmajor chips companies \u2063in the country, including Intel, Samsung and Qualcomm,\u200d to ask for\u200c advice on setting up the country\u2019s first fab.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. officials have also said an upgrade of formal ties with\u2063 Vietnam could help \u200dcollaboration on artificial intelligence (AI), \u2063a sector in\u200d which \u2062Google is a major global player.<\/p>\n<p>Vingroup, Vietnam\u2019s largest conglomerate and the parent of Nasdaq-listed electric car maker VinFast, has a unit focussed \u200don AI.<\/p>\n<p>Boeing\u200c may announce a deal involving the sale of 50 \u200cof its 737 MAX jets, people \u2063familiar with the matter told Reuters.
