That means Spectrum cable subscribers who \u200blive in markets \u2062with a local\u2064 ABC TV affiliate not owned by Disney, including Buffalo, New York, will be able \u200dto watch Monday\u2019s NFL match-up broadcast. That\u2019s \u200bnot the case \u200cfor Spectrum video customers who live in New York City and Los Angeles, which are served by Disney-owned television stations.<\/p>\n<p>Self-proclaimed Bills\u200d fan\u200d Kris\u200b Shofner expressed her\u200b anger over the black-out on social media. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have already missed a week of my @USOpen\u200b tennis and it looks like I will miss \u2062the finals!\u201d Shofner wrote on X, the platform previously known \u200bas Twitter.\u2063 \u201cI waited all summer long for the US Open and I got screwed!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Such \u2062\u201ccarriage disputes\u201d are commonplace in the media world, Charter argues this negotiation is different because \u2063the video ecosystem is broken. Some 25 million cable subscribers have cut the cord, industry-wide, over the last five years, as rising prices for content translate to higher fees for\u200d subscribers, contributing to \u200cthe exodus. <\/p>\n<p>Charter is seeking greater \u2063flexibility in its programming packages\u200b and the ability to offer Disney\u2019s ad-supported streaming services to its subscribers at no additional charge.<\/p>\n<p>Disney counts on fees that companies such as Charter pay to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/charter-disney-cable-tv-dispute-leaves-some-nfl-u-s-open-fans-in-the-dark\/\" title=\"Charter-Disney dispute leaves NFL, U.S. Open fans in the dark.\">partly cover rising programming costs<\/a>,\u2062 including the rights to air sports such as the NFL and the NBA. It\u2064 said\u2064 in a statement\u2062 on Thursday that it\u2063 \u201cstands \u200cready\u201d to\u2063 resolve the carriage dispute, and \u201cdo what\u2019s \u2064in the best interests\u201d \u200cof Charter\u2019s customers.<\/p>\n<p>Spectrum referred\u2062 its subscribers to the sports streaming service Fubo, which carries ESPN\u2019s Monday Night \u200bFootball games, and is offering cable\u2064 customers a discount of 25% to \u200d35% for the first two months, depending on the plan. \u200bDisney, for its part, announced a discount for its Hulu + Live TV service, which will provide access to the U.S. Open, college football and NFL games.
