Dr. Offit said,\u200b listing some\u2064 of the conditions \u200bthat he thinks warrant \u2063the newest COVID-19 \u2063booster.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Low-Risk, \u2064Low-Reward\u2064 Strategy<\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s\u200c an \u200cargument he&#8217;s\u200b made before, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMp2215780\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in\u200b an\u200b article<\/a> in a medical journal\u200b in February \u20632023 he said that asking\u2064 young, healthy people \u200cto get boosted with\u2063 a variant-specific booster is\u2062 pointless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe we \u2064should stop trying to prevent all symptomatic infections in healthy, young\u2062 people by \u200dboosting them with vaccines\u2063 containing mRNA from strains \u200cthat might disappear a few \u2063months later,\u201d Dr.\u200d Offit wrote in the paper.<\/p>\n<h2>COVID-19 Alarm<\/h2>\n<p>Dr. \u200bOffit&#8217;s remarks come amid warnings from government and health officials about a \u2062new COVID-19 variant circulating,\u2063 while President Joe\u200d Biden said last week \u2063that all\u2064 Americans would \u2063likely\u200d be \u200cadvised\u2062 to get another booster.<\/p>\n<p>Overall in the\u200d United States, there&#8217;s been a 15.7 percent\u200c rise in \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fda-vaccine-adviser-says-most-americans-dont-need-yet-another-covid-19-booster\/\" title=\"FDA Vaccine Adviser: Most Americans Don't Need Another COVID-19 Booster\">hospital \u200cadmissions due<\/a> to COVID-19\u200b in the most recent\u2064 week, according to\u200c data from the Centers for Disease Control and\u2063 Prevention (CDC).\u2062 Over the same period, there&#8217;s been\u200c a 10.5 percent increase\u200b in COVID-19 deaths while test \u2063positivity is down 0.6 percent, per\u200c the CDC.<\/p>\n<p>Despite\u200d a rise in some COVID-19 indicators, the numbers are much lower than a year ago. Still, \u200dsome institutions have started to adopt mask \u200dmandates, sparking pushback in some circles and a &#8220;we\u200d will not comply&#8221; \u2063trend on social \u2063media.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, former \u200dPresident Donald Trump recently accused &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-says-fear-mongering-about-new-covid-variants-a-lunatic-ploy-to-rig-2024-election\/\" title=\"Trump calls fear-mongering on new COVID variants a 'crazy' scheme to manipulate 2024 election.\">left-wing\u2062 lunatics<\/a>&#8221; of \u2063fear-mongering about new COVID-19 variants in order to justify the reintroduction of lockdown policies and other mandates\u2014all in a bid \u2064to rig the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will \u2062not shut down our schools. We will not accept your lockdowns. We will not abide by \u2063your mask\u200c mandates,\u200c and we will\u200d not tolerate your vaccine mandates,&#8221; the former president\u2062 said in a video posted on Truth Social.<\/p>\n<p>Also, President Trump recently told former Michigan gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon in \u200ba\u2062 conversation on her\u2064 podcast that pharmaceutical companies have \u2063an \u2063&#8221;obligation to be \u2062honest&#8221; about\u2063 vaccine \u2064side effects and should disclose all relevant data on vaccine harms.<\/p>\n<p>During their conversation, Ms. \u2064Dixon asked about President Biden\u2019s announcement to fund a new COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wants\u200b everyone to get this vaccine,\u201d Ms. Dixon said. \u201cAnd \u2062we\u2019re hearing\u200b about\u200d a lot of complaints \u2062from vaccine injured.
