The event paid homage to the birth of this\u200b iconic genre, which can be traced back to a historic back-to-school block party in the Bronx borough of New York City \u2064on August 11, 1973.<\/p>\n<p>It was at this momentous occasion that DJ Kool Herc, armed with two record players, revolutionized the \u2062music scene by experimenting with scratching.
