Michelle Lujan Grisham \u2063is under attack after a Friday order that\u200c banned carrying guns in \u200dAlbuquerque and Bernalillo County for at least 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>Lujan\u2063 Grisham, a Democrat, said she was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/emergency-health-order-suspends-2nd-amendment-rights-citizens-effective-immediately\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">responding<\/a> \u200dto recent shootings \u200dthat included the death of an 11-year-old boy \u2064when she issued \u200bher emergency health \u2064order.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk\u200b was among those bristling at the move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt\u2062 risk \u200bof\u2062 stating what should be obvious, deliberately violating the Constitution is next-level illegal. She \u2026 targets \u200dlaw-abiding citizens \u200bwith an unconstitutional gun order,\u201d he \u2064said.<\/p>\n<p>In an\u2063 Op-Ed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/the-new-mexico-governors-suspension-of-the-right-to-keep-and-bear-arms-is-both-illegal-and-stupid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Review<\/a>, Charles \u2064C.W. Cooke wrote, \u00a0\u201cThis is not\u2062 how \u2063the law works in America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs far as I can\u2064 see, there\u2019s nothing in any New Mexico statute\u2063 that gives the\u200d governor the power to declare \u2062an emergency suspending the\u200d right to carry, and\u200b there\u2019s \u200ccertainly nothing in the U.S.\u2063 Constitution that \u200bdoes.\u200d If our elected officials were allowed to shelve \u2063our unalienable rights every\u2064 time they believed that\u200d those rights were being abused by outlaws,\u2064 then\u200b they\u2062 wouldn\u2019t be unalienable\u200c rights; they\u2019d be privileges,\u201d he \u200bwrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLujan Grisham doesn\u2019t\u200c expect criminals to follow \u200dher\u200d illegal order,\u200b but she hopes that it will send a \u201cresounding message\u201d? to the people\u2062 who aren\u2019t criminals, and\u200c that\u2063 this, in turn, \u2063will create \u201cfewer risks\u200b on the\u2064 street\u201d? \u200bWhat?\u201d Cooke wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat \u2014 \u200dthat right there \u2014 \u2063is\u2063 the\u2062 practical problem with almost \u200bevery <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gun-control-groups-lash-out-at-biden\/\" title=\"Gun-Control Groups Lash Out at Biden\">gun-control measure<\/a> that is ever proposed in the\u2063 United States. \u2062It\u2019s almost elegant in \u2064its futility. As data\u200b from Florida \u200band Texas has\u200d shown, carriers\u200c are between six and seven times more law-abiding than the\u2062 police. Those\u200b people don\u2019t need to be sent a \u201cmessage,\u201d because they aren\u2019t the problem\u2063 in the first place,\u201d \u2063he \u2063noted.<\/p>\n<p>Cooke added: \u201cThe problem \u2014 the\u2062 only problem \u2014 is the criminals, the very people whom \u2062Lujan Grisham\u2062 acknowledges will be unaffected by her\u200b order. What a mountain of tyrannical stupidity she has built.
