He emphasizes that people would be shocked to \u2064realize how little privacy they actually have. In\u2064 a video posted by \u200dMr. Hughes \u200dto social media on Sept. 6, he recounted\u2064 arriving back at his home following his arrest to find \u200bhis gun safe had been opened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t even \u2062know that was a thing and I come home\u200c to see\u2064 my\u200d safe is open after\u200d I got \u200bout of jail. Pretty crazy. \u2064I didn\u2019t know safe companies \u200dwould\u200d do that,\u201d\u2063 he said.<\/p>\n<h2>Boycott Calls<\/h2>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The safe&#8217;s manufacturer, Liberty Safe, confirmed\u200c that it had \u200cturned over the passcode \u2064to authorities in \u2062response to a \u2064warrant. However, this statement did not appease critics, who immediately began\u200b calling for a boycott of the company.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>\u201cLiberty Safe is an enemy to gun owners,\u201d wrote Charlie Kirk, founder and CEO of Turning Point USA. \u201cYour guns are not \u200bsafe with \u200c@libertysafeinc \u200dBoycott.\u2063 Ridicule. Ruin their company.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution provides protection against unreasonable searches and seizures by\u200c the government. However,\u200d it does\u2064 not \u200cguarantee protection from all searches and seizures, only those deemed \u2062unreasonable under the law.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>According to Mr. Slobogin, Liberty Safe was not legally obligated\u2063 to reveal the passcode\u2064 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-of-conservative-women-elected-to-congress\/\" title=\"The Red Wave of Conservative Women Elected to Congress\">law enforcement<\/a> \u200cand did so voluntarily. He points out that most companies\u200b would have demanded a\u2063 subpoena, but Liberty Safe simply handed it over without a\u2063 fight.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Third-Party Doctrine<\/h2>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The legal loophole allowing the sharing of data, even what most people consider private, \u200bis justified under the \u2063&#8221;third-party doctrine.&#8221; This doctrine states that individuals who voluntarily provide information\u2062 to third parties have no reasonable expectation of privacy in \u200dthat information.
