On Sept. 3, he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGRobBonta\/status\/1698450218579063151\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted<\/a> on X in response to the initiatives, &#8220;Across the nation and even in California, a wave\u200c of anti-LGBTQ attacks threaten to isolate, discriminate against, and \u200dharm our transgender and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/florida-school-district-instructs-teachers-not-to-inform-parents-about-childrens-transgender-identity\/\" title=\"Florida School District Instructs Teachers Not to Inform Parents About Children\u2019s Transgender Identity\">gender nonconforming youth<\/a>. A return salvo to Mr. Bonta&#8217;s original tweet came in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WillSwaim\/status\/1698515724472336474\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a> on X from Will Swaim: &#8220;Parents have\u2062 already successfully sued school districts for practicing medicine without a license and \u2063for lying\u200c to parents about their child&#8217;s \u2063gender confusion. Trial attorneys will pile in, lured by the promise of millions in contingency fees. Insurers will tighten their underwriting to account for district deception\u2014leaving districts that followed @RobBonta&#8217;s advice exposed to devastating financial attacks. His policy will evaporate\u2014as will Rob Bonta.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>In California, the courts now are packed with activist leftist judges. Yet medical liability insurance laws are \u2064a specialty with their own rules, albeit operating in the overall system, especially the appeals courts. But as Mr. Swaim noted, just the presence of thousands of lawsuits would lead \u200dinsurers to raise rates, with\u200d the cost picked up by the school districts and, ultimately, the taxpayers.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>We have a good example from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/mom-daughter-awarded-100000-in-landmark-secret-gender-transition-case-5485604\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this week<\/a>: &#8220;A California school district that was sued \u200dover allegations that teachers and staff at Buena\u200b Vista Middle School in Salinas coached an 11-year-old girl to socially transition to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mother-daughter-to-receive-100000-settlement-in-landmark-secret-gender-transition-case\/\" title=\"Mother and daughter to get 0k settlement in groundbreaking gender transition case.\">male gender identity settled<\/a> with\u2062 the\u200d girl and her mother for $100,000.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Many are calling this\u200b a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6336190736112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">landmark case<\/a>, saying it will make other school \u2062districts across the country think twice before transitioning kids behind their parents&#8217; backs.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Meg Kilgannon, Family Research Council&#8217;s senior fellow for education studies, told the Washington Stand, &#8220;This is a\u200b great development in the overall move to \u200bstop mistreating\u200d children based on gender identity declarations at school. Mr. Bonta actually was fair\u200d on that \u2062for last year&#8217;s initiatives.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>That&#8217;s a contrast with his predecessor. As the San Francisco Chronicle \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/business\/article\/Prop-22-backers-sue-California-AG-over-15444429.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> in July 2020, &#8220;Backers\u200c of Proposition 22,\u2062 a November referendum\u2064 seeking to partially overturn California&#8217;s AB5 gig-work law and keep \u200bUber, Lyft,\u2063 DoorDash, Postmates and Instacart workers in \u200bthe state as independent contractors, sued Attorney General Xavier Becerra on Wednesday. They charged that he wrote an inaccurate label, title \u200cand summary of their measure\u200b &#8216;infected with the contagion of bias \u200dand hostility.&#8217;\u201d Becerra is the current secretary of Health and Human Services.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The courts\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/calmatters.org\/politics\/2020\/08\/california-proposition-descriptions-lawsuits-attorney-general\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rejected<\/a> the claim. But Prop. 22 went on to <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/California_Proposition_22,_App-Based_Drivers_as_Contractors_and_Labor_Policies_Initiative_(2020)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">win<\/a> anyway, 59 percent to\u2064 41 percent.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There have been calls over the years to shift the\u200b writing of the definitions to the nonpartisan state Fair Political Practices Commission, which monitors election campaign spending. Everyone \u2062understands that the future depends on what kids are taught\u2014and on what they&#8217;re \u2063subjected\u200d to outside academics. We&#8217;re long past the innocent hijinks of the 1950s portrayed in the old &#8220;Happy Days&#8221; TV show.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>What Democrats risk is \u200bdestroying their coalition. Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians actually hold more conservative views on this and other &#8220;social issues,&#8221; despite \u200cmost voting Democrat, than do whites in general. \u200dTake the 2008 vote for <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2008_California_Proposition_8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proposition\u2063 8<\/a>, which banned government recognition of same-sex &#8220;marriage&#8221; (until the 2015 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oyez.org\/cases\/2014\/14-556\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Obergefell<\/a> Supreme Court decision\u2064 threw out all such bans). Right after the election, AP <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20120917230950\/http:\/www.ktvu.com\/news\/news\/exit-poll-shows-blacks-hispanics-overwhelmingly-ba\/nKXyL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>, &#8220;Exit poll data showed seven \u2064in 10 black voters and more\u200b than half of Latino voters \u2062backed the \u200bballot initiative, while whites and Asians were split.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Though blacks and Latinos combined make up less \u200cthan one-third of California&#8217;s electorate, their opposition\u2063 to same-sex marriage appeared to tip the balance.
