The three opposing trustees \u200dwalked out of the meeting before the vote.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new rule requires schools to notify parents in writing within three days if their child identifies as \u200dtransgender, is involved in violence, or communicates thoughts of suicide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the policy, parents are also to be notified if their child requests to use names, pronouns, bathrooms,\u200d or locker rooms that\u200b don\u2019t \u201calign with the student\u2019s biological \u200dsex or gender,\u201d asks to participate in athletic programs that don&#8217;t align with the student&#8217;s biological sex, or requests to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mypillow-ceo-lindell-condemns-censorship-by-big-tech-corporations\/\" title=\"MyPillow CEO Lindell condemns censorship by Big Tech corporations\">change information<\/a> in his or her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-florida-teen-rigged-a-homecoming-election-now-shes-facing-major-jail-time\/\" title=\"A Florida Teen Rigged A Homecoming Election. Now She\u2019s Facing Major Jail Time.\">school records<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Orange\u200d Unified\u2019s policy is based on a similar policy recently \u200cenacted by five other districts in the state: Chino Valley Unified, Murietta Valley Unified, Temecula Valley Unified, the Anderson Union High School District, and Rocklin \u200bUnified.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2>Exceptions Added to Policy<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, Orange Unified opted to make \u200dseveral\u2063 changes to its own version, as outlined by Ms. Miner \u2062ahead of the vote.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under Orange Unified\u2019s policy, school staff is to first refer students to \u2064the school\u2062 counselor, who will then consult with the principal.
