\u2064Bank of Japan Governor\u200b Kazuo\u200c Ueda \u200bsaid the central bank could end its \u2064negative interest rate policy when achievement \u2062of its 2% inflation \u200dtarget is in sight,\u2062 the Yomiuri newspaper reported on Saturday, signalling possible interest rate \u2062hikes.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The central\u200c bank could have enough data by year-end to determine \u200bwhether it can \u200dend negative\u2062 rates, Ueda told \u200cthe \u200dpaper in an \u2062interview on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce we\u2019re\u200d convinced Japan will see\u200d sustained \u200crises in inflation \u2063accompanied by wage growth, there are various options \u2064we can take,\u201d Ueda was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we judge that Japan can achieve its inflation target even after ending \u2064negative rates, \u200cwe\u2019ll do so,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The BOJ currently\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/boj-policymaker-nakamura-warns-against-premature-monetary-tightening\/\" title=\"BOJ policymaker Nakamura cautions against early monetary tightening.\">guides short-term interest rates<\/a> at -0.1% under its negative \u2063rate policy. \u200bIt also caps the 10-year \u200cgovernment \u2063bond yield around \u200bzero\u2063 as\u200c part \u2064of efforts to reflate the\u200d economy \u2062and sustainably achieve its target.<\/p>\n<p>With inflation exceeding its 2% target\u200d for \u200cmore than\u200d a \u200dyear, markets have\u2062 been rife \u2063with speculation the BOJ\u2062 will soon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senator-manchin-on-bidens-massive-social-spending-bill-this-is-a-recipe-for-economic-crisis\/\" title=\"Senator Manchin On Biden\u2019s Massive Social Spending Bill: \u2018This Is A Recipe For Economic Crisis\u2019\">start raising interest rates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But Ueda has stressed the \u200bneed to \u200dmaintain \u200cultra-loose \u2064policy \u2062until the BOJ is convinced inflation will sustainably stay\u2064 around\u2062 2% \u200bbacked by solid demand and wage growth.<\/p>\n<p>Ueda repeated the stance in the interview, saying the BOJ will \u201cpatiently\u201d maintain ultra-loose policy for the time being.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile Japan \u200bis showing budding positive signs, achievement\u2062 of our\u2062 target isn\u2019t in\u2063 sight yet,\u201d he told the \u200binterviewer.<\/p>\n<p>The BOJ will not turn \u200da blind eye to the risk of inflation \u2063exceeding\u200c expectations, Ueda said, adding wage rises are beginning to push up\u2064 service prices.<\/p>\n<p>The key is whether wages will keep rising next year, Ueda\u2064 said. \u201cWe \u2063can\u2019t rule\u200b out\u2063 the possibility we\u2019ll get enough information and data by year-end,\u201d he was quoted as saying on the timing for ending \u2064negative rates.<\/p>\n<p>Under\u200b a negative rate policy, banks and other financial institutions are required to pay\u2062 interest\u2063 for\u2064 parking excess cash \u2014 beyond what authorities \u200bsay they must keep on hand for \u200dsafety \u2063reasons \u2014 with \u2063the\u2064 central\u200d bank.<\/p>\n<p>  \u2064 (Reporting by Leika Kihara;
