More\u200c than\u2064 40 percent \u200cof the state\u2019s groundwater wells remain below normal levels, the state reported \u200cSept.\u2063 7.<br \/>\n\u200c\n  <\/p>\n<p>    The\u2062 City\u2062 of Los Angeles was able to capitalize\u2064 on Hilary. An expansion of\u2063 a stormwater capture\u200d facility allowed the city to collect \u2063nearly 12,200 acre-feet of stormwater during \u2062the downpour, or\u2064 enough to meet the yearly water needs \u200dof nearly 50,000 households, according to the Los \u200dAngeles Department of Water and Power.\n  <\/p>\n<p>    \u200d  An acre-foot of water equals about 326,000 \u2063gallons, or about half \u2064the\u200b volume of an Olympic-size swimming pool.\n  <\/p>\n<p>    \u201cWe were able \u2062to\u200c capture more water due to the expansion of one\u2062 of our stormwater capture facilities \u2062at Tujunga\u2062 Spreading\u200b Grounds,\u201d department spokeswoman Mia Rose Wong told The Epoch Times.<br \/>\n\u200c\n  <\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>      \u200b  The city \u2064has invested more than $130 \u200dmillion in stormwater\u200b capture infrastructure and has built over 20 such projects from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/los-angeles-captures-enough-stormwater-during-hurricane-hilary-to-serve-50000-households\/\" title=\"LA captures ample stormwater from Hurricane Hilary to supply 50k households.\">small street capture systems<\/a> to dam improvements,\u2063 according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ladwpnews.com\/stormwater-capture-swells-during-seasons-biggest-rainstorm-accumulating-10-6-billion-gallons-enough-water-to-serve-139000-households\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LADWP news release<\/a> from January.\u200d It completed\u2064 the 150-acre <a href=\"https:\/\/pw.lacounty.gov\/wrd\/Projects\/TujungaSG\/index.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tujunga Spreading Grounds<\/a> project in Sun \u2062Valley, California, \u200blast year.\n    <\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2>California Out of\u200b Drought<\/h2>\n<p>    The abundance of moisture this year has pulled California out\u2062 of \u200da\u2062 nearly three<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/paul-driessen-billionaire-climate-elites-have-their-own-rules\/\" title=\"Paul Driessen: Billionaire Climate Elites Have Their Own Rules\">-year dry spell<\/a> as the state endured some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/water-agency-warns-cities-industry-to-prepare-for-fourth-year-of-drought-4907747\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">driest years<\/a> on record.<br \/>\n\u2062\n  <\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>      \u2064  \u200d The state is nearly completely drought-free, according\u200c to\u200b a Sept. 7 report by U.S. Drought\u200b Monitor, a weekly <a href=\"https:\/\/droughtmonitor.unl.edu\/CurrentMap\/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx?CA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">update<\/a> of national\u2062 drought conditions. The \u2062small northern counties of Del Norte and Siskiyou, and a \u200dsmall region of Modoc County, all on\u200c the Oregon \u2063border, were also experiencing mostly abnormally dry conditions.\n  <\/p>\n<p>    \u200b  In\u200b the western U.S., two \u2062other states\u2014Nevada and Wyoming\u2014were also mostly out of drought conditions.
