In April, the justices froze a \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-rejects-pennsylvania-gop-election-appeal\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Rejects Pennsylvania GOP Election Appeal\">lower court decision<\/a> in response to a filing from President\u200c Joe Biden&#8217;s administration, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-questioned-by-reporters-on-biden-refusing-to-recognize-hunters-love-child\/\" title=\"Reporters question White House on Biden's refusal to acknowledge Hunter's child.\">legal battle surrounding<\/a> the pill \u200ccontinues.<\/p>\n<p>A panel of \u200dthree judges on the appeals court concluded that the FDA&#8217;s recent decisions to increase \u2064accessibility of the drug failed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dhs-mayorkas-oks-closure-of-some-gaps-in-the-border-wall\/\" title=\"DHS Mayorkas OKs Closure of Some Gaps in the Border Wall\">address safety concerns<\/a>. \u200dThis \u2063sparked strong opposition from both the pharmaceutical industry and\u2064 the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2062legal dispute over mifepristone began in November when the Alliance\u200b for Hippocratic Medicine, a group of religious doctors opposing &#8220;chemical abortions,&#8221; sued to \u200creverse\u2064 the FDA&#8217;s 2000 approval of the drug.<\/p>\n<p>In an unprecedented ruling, U.S. Judge\u200c Matthew\u2064 Kacsmaryk \u200bof the \u200dU.S. District Court for \u2062the Northern District of\u2063 Texas suspended the\u2062 FDA&#8217;s approval\u200b of the pill in April.<\/p>\n<p>The 5th Circuit panel partially overturned the Texas judge&#8217;s ruling, maintaining the\u200b original FDA approval and the agency&#8217;s authorization of the drug&#8217;s generic form.<\/p>\n<p>If the Supreme Court takes up the case and\u2063 upholds the appeals court decision, mifepristone will \u200dremain available, but patients will face additional obstacles in\u200d accessing the drug.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the 6-3 \u2062Republican-appointed majority made a historic decision to overturn the precedent set under Roe v. Wade, granting states\u200c the ability to enforce stricter regulations on \u200dabortion access in the case of Dobbs v.
